Are any food off limits?

Ok, I thought I knew everything by now. But over the weekend a freind and I were talking and she was grilling me. We came "what can you eat after surgery" and she was wondering what food I physically cannot eat after sugery. I played like I knew that answer. But I want to be sure I am right. You can eat bascially anything. Not  saying that you should eat anything. But this is unlike a lap band, right? I know that certain foods with that are just off limits with a lap band  because they cause problems. But can you eat bread/sandwich after sleeve surgery. Are there any foods that are off because they cause issues?

Not as far as I know. There are foods you shouldn't eat in large amounts (gain weight) but as far as I know nothing you can't eat that you didn't eat before.

Everyone is different.  You really can eat anything but you will find that you don't tolerate certain items.  If I eat something higher in sugar I don't feel well so I stay away from it.  I do well with steak but not hamburger.  I eat limited bread because when I eat it I fill up too fast and don't have room for protein.  Rice goes down like a rock so I stay away completely and just eat sashimi instead of sushi.  I also found that my tastes changed after surgery and I don't like some of the things I used to like.  Hope this helps - Theresa

Do you dump when you eat sugar? Thanks

In a way yes - it's not the same as people with the bi-pass.  It's not as bad.  I explain it the same as if you were to eat really healthy and clean for a month and then went out to fast food.  You feel ill and it has a tendency to "go right through you".    Hope this helps.  Theresa

Aloha Disneylov-
No carbonation.
We were told no bread, rice, pasta for optimum weight loss, and for the "sticky ball" properties- I've adhered to this for 5 months, had very good weight loss.
No alchohol or caffeine for 12 months ( I've seen other people's rules vary from this).
Early on- you'll need to experiment with spicy things, dense foods, etc. I can do steak but not ground beef. I can have some spicy stuff but not too spicy.
Sabotage foods- if you drink nothing but milkshakes ( high fat high sugar high calorie that goes through your sleeve easily)  you will gain weight, not lose it.
You should be able to eat anything else, in small amounts- but even at 5 months, I don't eat anything away from home that I haven't tried yet- made the mistake with chili and a dense fish that both ended up being puked in a dumpster. Ick.

You got it right we "CAN" eat everything, lol.  But like the lapband there are foods that cause problems BUT they are different with each person.

I cannot do over 1/4 cup of potatoes...any style.  If/when I do it's like a volcano erupting.  Not pretty at all.  I can have "some" dessert/sugar/sweets/etc.  When I decided to have "some more" I get nauseous and dizzy...again NOT pretty.
