How much are you able or supposed to eat at one meal?  Is it 1/2 cup, 1 cup?  Or do you measure oz?  Just wanted a guidline

Thanks!

Depends how far out you are. the following are at a single meal.
0-3 weeks Clears- struggled to get 40 oz per day in.
3-6 weeks Fulls- struggled to get 40 oz per day in.
6 weeks-3 months Mushies- a few bites of refrieds, 3 oz of yogurt, 1/2 scrambled egg white, etc- totally intolerant of cottage cheese or anything more dense.
3 months Regular foods- 3-4 bites of dense protein, half a string cheese, 1/2 cup soup or yogurt
11 months out (tomorrow!)- 1 cup Greek yogurt, 1 cup soup, 2-3 oz dense protein such as beef, chicken, fish, 1 scrambled egg white with salsa, 2 slices zucchini and cheese, 8-12 almonds, 1/2 apple- you get the picture. If it's soft I can eat more- I still do protein protein protein first then any extra room goes for veggies, etc. I still do not do bread, rice , pasta.

I had Dr. Pop as well.  The NUT at Barix talked in cups but that seminar is for RnY-ers... I found it was NOT helpful for a VSG-er IMHO.  I have always measured in oz as it's easier for me to figure out how much to eat, etc.

Once I moved to solids, I was eating 0.5-0.75 oz of protein and up to 1oz within 2 weeks. At 8 weeks out, I am averaging 1.75-2.0 oz of protein.  I at this point rarely get anything but my protein in and I eat protein at 3 meals and 3 snacks.  I am just starting to be able to get in 1-2 bites of broccoli or other veg. at dinner.

ie. food today (I am 8 weeks plus 1 day post-op):

breakfast:  1 scrambled egg
snack: 1 string cheese (1oz)
lunch: 1.75oz of deli ham in a 5" tortilla. Ate 50% of the tortilla and all the ham.
snack: splurged and had a chocolate/banana Vivanno drink from Starbucks (250 cal with 21g of protein) when out with girlfriends.
dinner: 1.75 oz of roast chicken and 2 small spears of broccoli and 2 bites of carrot
snack: plan to have 1/2c of protein ice cream I made.

Total protein = 67g

Hope that helps?  I have my food diary going back to when I started mushies at week 3 if you want me to pull it and give you a rough idea.  Everyone is different but that's what my tummy can hold (and Dr. Pop uses a 34f bougie) now.

I can eat 2 oz of dense protein (meat) and maybe a couple of bites of veggie.
I don't have any regrets, they can talk about me plenty when I'm gone....Bob Dylan

It really depends on what I eat.

Eggs- 1 scrambled with some cheese
Fish, shrimp, scallops- 3-4oz easily
Beef, chicken, pork- 2oz and I am stuffed!
Soups- about a cup if it's not thick
protein bars- I get some that are smaller and can eat almost all of it...larger ones I eat about half
veggies- I measure at 2-3oz (sometimes I crave just veggies and will have it as a snack)
haven't attempted rice
Pasta- ate for the first time last night and only ate 3 pieces of penne because I was scared
Yogurt- one yoplait is almost too much for me
SF/FF pudding-1/2 cup

When I'm feeling munchy I will get a 100 calorie pack of the Extra Cheddar and it eat one piece at a time over the space of about 45 minutes (bad I know, and I don't do it often but it satisfies that urge when I have it)

I measure everything I put in my mouth on the scale. (unless it's a something prepackaged) It helps me keep track and holds me accountable to myself.
