Desire to cook after VSG??
I watch food channel now only since post op!!! Weird, I know.
I do cook more (for myself.... single)
Post op eating for me is about quality over quantity!
If I'm only gonna eat a little bit of food..... It better be damn good (tasty) food !!!
I buy the very best cuts of meat and the very best seafood..... It's cheap...price per meal.
Cooking for family would be harder.....but would be good to get the family eating better!

I, too, love to cook now. I search the internet for recipes all the time. I usually try to do a lot of crockpot dishes, grilled items or quick stovetop dishes. It has been too hot to use the oven but that is changing with the weather. I am now looking at oven recipes but the crockpot will still be my friend through the cooler months with beans, soups, stews and chili.
I do look for healthier recipes but am not adamant about it as I eat so little. And I am actually trying to gain weight right now so heavy sauces are definitely on the menu. This is still an improvement over the fried foods we used to eat. I also alternate between poultry and pork 5 nights a week and beef 2 nights a week. Tonight is roast turkey breast (in the crockpot) w/ mashed potatoes, frozen corn, carrots & green beans. Tomorrow is bar-b-q pulled pork (in the crockpot) and oysters on the grill for the Florida-Alabama game. Also lotd of veggies to snack on. I might make spinach dip as I have been craving it. Not the healthiest thing ti eat but again I eat so little.
When I first came home from the hospital I did not cook as the smell of food made me ill. Now that I am back to cooking I can't get anyone else to do it (I live with Hubby, youngest daughter, son-in-law and 2 grands).
Maybe once you are at a place in your weight loss where you feel you can enjoy food again you will decide you want to cook. It's great learning new recipes especially if your family likes them as well.

I love food and as such love to cook but I'm single no children. BUT when I first had surgery I was cooking and bringing food to my friend here at work. The only difference is I made her a starch. Same thing when I had a room mate. NOW cooking is a chore cause I would have to eat it forever lol.
Cooking to me is a LOVE of the people who enjoy it. You are doing this to be healthier (I gather) and in addition what better give then to give your children beautiful healthy meals WITH you!!

I should add that I'm still learning how to not cook as much. I had my cooking down to a science. I knew how to cook just enough for two nights (I dont love to cook so leftovers are my friend), but since surgery most food I cook lasts 3 nights and then some. I end up throwing away a good bit, and my husband is less than thrilled to eat the same thing three nights in a row every single time we have something different.
It just goes to show me how much I was eating. I guess I could really pack it in.
