Post op VSG'ers..Have you lost your desire to cook meals for your family since your food intake is dramatically reduced compared to theirs?? That is my fear because I have 3 kids.

Mine did but I think it was mostly because it's hard to cook and not be able to taste this and that, know what I mean? I don't mind cooking for them but right now I admit it's hard on me.

I still like to cook.  In the beginning when I was on liquids I didn't cook but now that I'm 3 months out I cook all the time.  I look through recipes, books, internet, etc to get ideas for meals.  I also concentrate on protein in all our meals.  I have three kids too so I know how you feel.

Believe it or not, I am actually enjoying cooking more post op than I did pre op. My son is loving it!

Tonight I made salmon patties with carrots on the side, they were sooooo delish!

I completely agree with the 2 previous posters.  I enjoy cooking now 100% more than I did before, and I cook every night, whereas I did twice before and my husband did the rest.  It was almost as if since I couldn't eat food and BE WITH it, I had to find another way to enjoy it - make sense?  Before, I found cooking to be irritating and a hassle - but now I have a new love affair with cooking, and cant get enough - my family loves it!

I love to cook more !! Now I can make fantastic things and I know I won't eat it all. I am eating cleaner than I have ever done before and it tastes better. My husband is now getting very healthy meals and he is losing weight. It has been a win win in our family.

I cook all the time now where before since its just me i did fast food.  Now i cook healthy protein rich foods and its pretty cool.   You'll be able to eat again  lol  just healthier version which will be good for all of you.   No worries you'll have healthier kids and they'll have a healthier Mom,  win win i say,  xoxojeani

For the first couple of months when I could barely eat I hated it. But now I like it about the same as pre-op.

I actually was just online searching for a good stuffed shells recipe (I found a good cottage cheese one). I'm looking forward to making that - I'll just eat the stuffing. I'm bored with all my recipes that I've been making for years. = )

I also have 3 kids and I am actually enjoying cooking more now.  I am not sure why...but, I even experment with 1 or 2 new dinner recipes a week.  I have everyone eat the same thing...I don't do 2 dinners...I just do healthy dinners and I don't eat the carb.
