Anyone else eating like it's their "last meal" pre-op???

I feel like I'm eating way more than I normally would & including desserts after a lot of meals. I think that I'm eating like this for a few reasons:

1. Because I know that I won't ever be able to eat like this again (AND shouldn't I might add!!).

2. Because I know I will start my liquid pre-op 2 week diet soon.

3. Because I know it will be a while after surgery before I can eat anything.

4. Because I may not be able to eat certain foods once sleeved.

5. Because I'll never be able to eat the same quantity of food again.

All that being said, I'd rather be healthy & fit then continue this vicious cycle of bad eating habits that has got me to this point in the first place.

I had a liquid diet for a week then on the very last day the plans changed. so I had about 2 weeks between surgerys, 1 week where I could eat what I wanted, that I ate anything and everything I wanted... which mostly included all those carby foods like rice, potatos, and noodles... ooh also frozen burritos..  I have my sleeve day after tomorrow and I am glad I had my food Funeral.. however I kinda felt guilty.. so at least I know that was a little bit of mental change.... currently I am thinking about how wonderful oatmeal will taste when I can have it :)

Oh yeah. Gained 7lbs...and loved every bite. However, toward the end of my food fest all I could think of was thank goodness I have to start the pre-op diet because I'm sick of food!

Wow, I was afraid to ask that question. I have been eating more than I normally eat because I know that I'm not going to be able to eat the same way too! I almost feel like I'm having a farewell to food binge each week.

I start my liquid diet next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I talked to a few close friends who actually said that this was great that I was doing this because I am preparing myself for my new lifestyle change!

Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Oh boy did I do that...but it did get old!  I am diabetic so it made me feel bad when I ate bad.  Anyhow have fun with it...I was just afraid of gaining too much back because my Dr. would have canceled surgery if I gained more than a few pounds back.  With water weight I could go up and down 5 lbs!  GL and best wishes!

ROF...LOL...LMAO!!! I think we can all 'identify' w/that...no you're not alone!

I had posted on the "December Sleevers" on 11/14...I'm scheduled for Tuesday 12/14, pre-op diet starts 11/30, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving...how conveeenient.....I was originally scheduled for 12/7 but when I counted back to pre-op diet starting 2 days before Thanksgiving...and Mom's b-day the next day...I said hell no! Had a work conflict anyway, so we pushed it back a week...LOL

Have been eating out at a couple restaurants I've been wanting to try (I've become a Groupon & Restaurant.com groupie LOL), but I'm so conditioned that I'm making good choices & not being all that bad when I try & splurge...LOL (I've logged everything I've eaten on fitday.com since February and I'm accountabe to myslef...no excuses!)

I can't wait to go to a restaurant and say "I'll have the special, but bring the to go box w/the meal...I'm only going to be able to have 2 bites anyway!"

Good luck to us all!

James

VSG on 10/01/10 with
HI
I think that I did both, food funeral eating and good for me eating.  The funerals I had were for the foods I know I over ate and are BAD for me.  I allowed myself a few meals like that.  The rest of the time I tried to think ahead to how I would need  to eat.
One thing that drew me to the sleeve was that I would be able to eat whatever I wanted, only small amounts.  So I didn't feel the need to binge eat all my favorites.  I know it will take self control now, but I can handle it.  I'm never going back to the way i was and thats that.  I know we have all said that a hundred times as we lost a few pounds...  But there is no real food that means more to me than being healthy. Nothing bothers my cast iron tummy. But I don't WANT the things I used to.  I WANT to be healthy, functioning and sexy again. And my friends and family can either join me or not, but I am going to do it.
You are doing this for you and your children.  You can do it.  Food is nothing comapred to them.
Hugs,
K J
