Just wondering...
My doctor's office said they would test for it. I was a "closet smoker" anyway so I told them I wasn't a smoker. Anyway I know it takes 30 days to clear the nicotine AND metabolites from my system so I FINALLY quit 30 days before, even though at that time I didn't know my surgical date.
I still don't know if they tested the morning of. But I have to assume if I had smoked then they'd have caught me and canceled surgery.

Yes. 3 weeks to a month for me. I used the patch. Has nothing to do with getting the nicotine out of your system but they want your lungs as strong as possible.
My surgeon gave us a deep breathing exercise to do shortly after surgery to help strengthen the lungs as well.
Just keep telling yourself they won't do the surgery if you smoke. That'll get you through. :)
