Surgery Monday am I doing the right thing?
IV's are cake just make sure u are hydrated. I also have back issues so I have been put under 5 or 6 time in the last year and the only time I ever had any problems with it was when I was not hydrated. I wish You all the luck. I will say a prayer for you. If i could figure out how to save people names I would love to check in with you I an 33, 269, 5'9 and from Ohio. That where I am starting
I know that scary feeling up to the time they take you to surgery but ask yourself...Are you sick of being overweiht? Tired andd depressed because you cant lose weight and keep it off? Then feel good you are taking control, as of now and you will be a new better you. I'm 11 months out this coming Tues. 3/29/2011 and it is a wonderful amazing tool. I didn't have alot of pain after my surgery but I do understand we are all different. You can do this and will be amazed at the new you that emerges like a butterfly from a cocoon. Can't wait to hear how you're doing!

Wow what a way to make some one feel better I am on the Verge of tears . Sometimes it can only take someone that's been throught the process to comfort one getting ready to go through it. Thanks for your support, and if it's okay, i will add you as a friend. You seem like a cool person, and i need understanding support.
I was nervous and really freaked out at first then I really prayed about it and was totally calm and ready for the surgery. Sure I had concern but I looked at it as a new adventure and I tried to take in every single aspect of it from the IV (they used a tiny shot of numbing agent first so it wouldn't hurt) to the ride in the guerny to the OR. I asked questions as we went down the halls, I greeted everyone in the OR as I got in there I did try to avoid looking at the table that was moved discreetly against a wall that was covered in green cloth and I assumed had all the instruments on it. It seems as soon as I was on the table they were putting a mask on me and I was out. I don't even remember waking up in the recovery room I only remember waking up on the journey to my room. It is the beginning of your new adventure! Savor every aspect of it because it is the beginning of your new life too!
As someone that is down close to 240 lbs from my sleeve, I say, "HECK YES". What you are going through is normal. Some people question if they are making the right decision and if they gave diet and exercise a fair chance. Others get worked up on the surgery itself and the recovery. For me, I cried the day before surgery. I get so mad at myself that I allowed myself to get in this bad situation to begin with.
Also, as someone that has been on Weigh****chers since age 9, weight loss camp and too many diets over my lifetime to count, I needed medical intervention. I also do my part with exercise and weighing and journaling my food, however, having a tool to help me along the way is terrific. Sure, I have lost 100 lbs with WW and exercise alone in the past, however, having to lose close to 300 lbs was very overwhelming. For me, I know in my heart I made the right decision to have the sleeve
Best of luck to you on your surgery on Monday. I wish you a safe and fast recovery.

Hi there...
we are on the same day! Congratulations on your decision to have the surgery...I am sure it will be life-changing, in a positive sense. I am sure it will be a journey and you will undoubtedly learn things about yourself you may not have known already...the personal growth with be worth it, I am sure! It's natural to be nervous about something this big...because it is HUGE... take comfort in knowing you are not alone. If you need moral support, there are some really compassionate, supportive people here who will answer if you need them.
Best wishes for a smooth surgery and recovery. Will look forward to reading your progress reports! Take care, and see you on the Losers' Bench after tomorrow!!! Viv
