XP: So undecided Band vs. VSG... So many concerns.

The only person I know that had the band almost died from it... It slipped and part of her stomach herniated through it while she was overseas in Japan (at two years post-op). That was enough to scare me away from it! Then my nut said that they are considering a recall of the lap band due to so many complications. That was in January of this year... I think you should do a lot more research before deciding on the band. It has really bad stats.

I spent considerable time weighing out the same thing (RNY was already omitted from my choices, no NSAIDS allowed).
To me the band is a lot harder to do. Every time I went to the Dr's office I noticed that they had two different sign in sheets. One for band fills & one for other Dr visits. I asked how often people had to come in (and burn time sitting in the darn waiting room ) for band adjustments and I was told it could be as few as once a month or it could be more often depending on what stage the patient is in and how well they are doing. Well that sealed the deal on VSG for me.

The less time I have to spend hanging around the Dr's office the better in my case... Craig
