Baby after WLS: Any comments on your experiences?

I am a soon to be 30 year old woman and I have not yet had children, but do know that having a family is part of my future plans (after waiting at least the 18 months-2 years post op). I know logically that the surgically altered stomach (post WLS) has nothing to do with the growth of the uterus and fetus during gestation, but I have so many worries and concerns about how being pregnant will effect your post-op weight loss success. I also worry about losing the weight post-birth as so many people I know who've had children (as well as my own mother) had such a hard time losing all their baby weight.

Any information or perspectives people can provide will be helpful!

Thanks,
Emily

From my RESEARCH a baby "only" needs about an additional 200-300 calories per day.  Contrary to old school belief you don't need to eat for 2.  So adding in say an apple and string cheese could accomplish that, no problem.  Weight gain as I recall "should" be about 30lbs.  NOW looking at the reality, eating only that much more and gaining that much weight wouldn't be a problem.

There are other variables that come into play your overall health (skinny doesn't always mean healthy).

There are TONS of folks who have healthy wonderful post WLS babies.  There is a pregnancy forum here where they can be more specific http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/postop_pregnancy/

I agree with ms shell, I have a little girl and I only gained about 30 pounds with her, right after I had her I lost about 40 pounds.. I just didnt keep it off.. for my next child I just plan on starting over with my diet and pretending like i just had the surgery (only if my weight jumps back up greatly) one of the reason I picked 140 as a goal was so that I was far away from 200 haha.. and wont cringe as I crept back up slowly..
