LOL.... I hear ya. I have been open with co-workers about my surgery and everyone has been super supportive, but they still ask the same questions! "How much have you lost?" uhm, I only weigh myself once a week! LOL Don't ask me every day!

It is true, you are eating less and exercising more. You are entitled to keep your tool secret.

Tell them you are having a TON of sex which really burns the calories. That may make the questions cease!

I'm worried about all of these questions too, not so much because I'm not going to be very open with my coworkers (I kind of have to be, will explain below) but because it can get VERY ANNOYING!! I see your frustration, but just know that you're doing a great job and your life is exactly that-- your life! It's your business who you tell what and to whom, unfortunately the people around you probably won't get it! Just think though-- maybe they're looking for tips because you are having so much success-- you are their poster child for eating properly and exercising!! :)

As for why I will be kind of forced to tell my coworkers: I work in the hospital where I'm going to have my surgery, and my nursing unit is on the same hallway as the bariatric surgery unit... so the very first day when I take my walk post-operatively, I'll be walking right past all of my coworkers (as well as the patients I just took care of the day before!) wearing a gown and toting along my IV pole... I'm excited though: one of my coworkers had lap band 8-10 years ago and is looking great, my boss' husband had lap band a few years ago, and I know that there are other coworkers I have who are overweight and want to be thinner and healthier. Maybe I will be their poster child!

Anyway, good luck to you on your journey-- and keep up the fantastic work!

I saw a co-worker I hadn't run into for a long time today (I work in a very large company). She kept asking me what I have been doing and I told her a long list of things such as therapy, support groups, low carb/fat/calorie diet, exercise with a trainer and on my own, using a BodyBugg, etc. All of those things are true.

I also told her I cut my portion size drastically.. true too. So she proceeds to tell me I must be a vegetarian now. I tell her no, I eat almost exclusively lean meats, and she starts going on and on about how unhealthy it is to eat meat.

I was so stuck trying to figure out how to politely end the conversation. I finally said, "Well this is how I've been eating and it has helped me lose weight, and my doctor supports me eating this way. I gotta get back to work.. talk to you later."

Wow, very awkward conversation! Especially since I'm a nutritionist, and this lady was going on and on about nutrition in such a way that I knew we were on totally opposite views of nutrition, and I knew that there was no point in sharing my information with her.

I think if I saw a co-worker lose so much weight in a short amount of time I would would be curious too.  I would hope my co-worker would not think I am prying but genuinely curious and maybe looking to solve my own health issues.
