Anyone else pack on the LBs once they were approved?
I refused to get into the "Last Supper" mindset. I had worked so hard and waited so long to even have the insurance that covered the surgery, I just refused to let it be part of my plan. I did not have a last pizza, hamburger, baked potato, whatever.
My surgeon told me that if I started gaining weight, he might not be able to do the surgery for many reasons:
1. My liver needed to be as small and healthy as possible.
2. The more weight I lost, the easier my recovery would be.
3. He also said losing before surgery would show that I was serious about eating better.
4. The sleeve is just a tool, it is not a magic wand.
Because of his stern support, I lost 60 pounds in the 6 months before my surgery.
I hope I don't sound harsh or judgemental. But, please start now. You will not be sorry.

When I made the decision to have VSG surgery I knew it would be life changing. As I processed that I thought about the reality of what my new eating and drinking habits would need to be. At that point I figured I better try this out to see if I can live with it. It would really suck if after the fact I learned that I just can't live this way.
My eating habits have since changed dramatically for the better. I don't eat or drink nearly as much. I eat protein first and then veggies and seldom "bad carbs". I wait 30 minutes after I've finished eating to drink anything. I almost always get my 64 ozs of water every day. In less than two months I've dropped 23 lbs. I feel great. I was scheduled for surgery this past Tuesday but it had to be postponed. Hopefully it will happen in the next week or two.

Yes! Since I was a revision, I only had to do a one day pre-op liquid diet. I ate at all my favorite restaurants because I thought I would never be able to eat all those foods again. I was WRONG! I can still eat anything, just in small amounts. Many of the foods I used to gorge on don't appeal to me anymore with the sleeve. Maybe you could start walking to get ready for surgery and help with the weight. I know it's hard, but your sleeve day is almost here!
I did two days of a food bucket list.. I had a half of a muffaletta, and then the next day McDonald's.. I did go to a Hibachi bar with my parents and my son..
I did not go crazy though.. I just wanted to have one more normal size meal.. We are going to Outback next week, for an early mother's day, since I start my two week liquid diet next week, So I will miss having a meal out with my son this mother's day, since I will be on my liquid diet then..
