Resuming Sexual Activity After Surgery

The packet that my surgeon's office gave me pre-op specifies to wait to resume sexual activity until cleared by my surgeon at the first post-op appointment at the two-week mark. My soonest appointment is almost three weeks post-op.

Did most of you find that you were cleared at this point, or did they make you wait any longer?

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to bust a staple or leak my guts all over the place so I'm going to follow my surgeon's instructions, and I'm also not planning on swinging from the rafters just yet... but I am feeling like I'm ready for a little somthin' somthin'.

How long did you all have to wait after VSG for a roll in the hay?

My surgeon said I could as soon as I felt up to it....but I had surgery May 12th, so not quite there yet, so no real advice to give you....but I think you will know, when it doesn't hurt to move or bend. I'm still hurting just walking, much less anything more active! LOL

It's like after giving birth, doctors usually say to wait 3-4 weeks, but most don't. LOL

My surgeon didn't say anything about sex...lol. I did it when I had no more pain; about 12 days post-op. Just don't do any acrobatic moves

Probably you should wait until you are out of the recovery room ....

I'm single so no partner, but I was cleared at my 1 week checkup for any aerobic exercise. Just don't do anything to crazy and you should be fine!
