Who dropped the DAMN ball?????

(Long Rant)..........................

Okay, I will have my surgery Monday (thank God!), so I received a call from my surgeon's office today. The first thing the office coordinator says, "(my name), we don't see where you PRE-ADMITTED for the hospital in your file!"

Well, the drama with that goes like this.....I went in on May 9, 2011, to consult with my surgeon, talk to the psychologist, and pre-admit into the hospital.I live 2 hours away from where my surgery will be performed so it was CRITICAL that I take care of all of this the same day!!!  Well, the latter didn't happen because we were having some drama with the payment at the surgeon's office, so by the time I got to the hospital to pre-admit, they were closed. Well, I was supposed to be TOLD to go to the ER because they'd do the lab work (but the ball was dropped on that too)!! So, I called the outpatient services the next day. The lady I talked to with outpatient services said that it was OKAY, because they'd just call me a few days before the surgery so that I could do my paperwork over the phone (hence the call today!)

So, when I received this call, all I could say to myself was, "LORD, what is it now....I cannot and will not PUSH my date back!"....I've waited my ENTIRE life for an opportunity like this.....and I don't want to wait a moment longer. So, the outpatient services coordinator was really nice, and she informed me that the patient coordinator from the hospital will call me back when she's done talking with me.

Well, the patient coordinator just called back and said that the DOCTOR said that the surgery will go ahead as planned, I'll just have to have lab work done the day of surgery, and my time has been pushed back some! I'm OKAY with that!!!!

Sorry for the long rant.......I just want to know....WHO IN THE HELL DROPPED THE DAMN BALL??????

LOL!

Can't sweat the small stuff.......

I agree with the above poster. The process leading up to surgery can be so irritating and frustrating but very soon you will say it was all worth it! And it is!!! I'd go through all the hassles, appointmetns, telephone calls, letters, etc again in a New York minute!

Good luck on Monday!

who knows who dropped the ball but these days stuff like this happens all the time that we all have to be vigilent and follow up on everything. the days of expecting people to follow up and do their jobs are gone. gotta be proactive. and i insisted on copies of all my tests and reports and stuff so i had them as i knew the offices would lose them and i wanted to be able to provide my own copies and not depend on others to find them. this is what slows things down. sad but true. anyway, gl on surgery. you are gonna love your sleeve!!   my hospital kept insisting i didn't exist until the day before surgery when i was traveling 300 miles and trying to do junk over the phone in the car. so stupid.  Diane
