Is it possible to lose 180 lbs with the sleeve?

Hi,
I'm very interested in getting the vsg but I'm concerned from what I've read that losing the amount of weight that I need to would maybe not be possible. Currently my weight is around 350 and I'd love to get down to around 170-180.
I really do not want the rny because I don't want the re-routing or the malabsorbtion. Which also means I'm not comfortable doing the ds either.
I'm mostly a volume eater, not a real snacker or sweet eater.
So I'm hoping to hear what others think about attempting to lose this much weight with vsg.
Thanx so much everyone!

Oh oh oh!  I know the answer to this!

YES IT"S POSSIBLE!  It's not just possible but it is very do-able.

I'm not to 170 or 180 but  I'm at 193, and I started at 365.

So yeah you can do it!  I am one year out - I just posted photos finally...

Totally doable ! ! ! Check out MissEye, Jimbo, Frisco, and a few others will hopefully chime in.

Also, check out the VSG maintenance group so you can see all of us maintainers. I lost 138lbs with VSG. The first 115lbs I dropped in 6.5 months. I, too, was a volume eater without major eating issues or other metabolic issues that could slow my weight loss.

HOWEVER, I was a pro-dieter. I could lose weight, it was keeping it off that I found challenging. And, I mean challenging to the tune of losing and gaining the same 400lbs off and on over the last 10 years before my VSG. I maintained my loss for a year until the pregnancy weight started creeping in.

Yes it is possible but it is not easy.  How is your metabolism?  Do you lose on a low calorie diet?  If you do, you can lose this weight with the sleeve.  There are many people that have, but most of them work really hard at it, especially the first 12 months or so.  I think it's great that you are looking into this.  It can be a wonderful option.

You and I are in the same boat. My current goal is 200, but ultimate is 180. I say 200 because I'm 6'0. My doctor says I should have no problem reaching that goal in under 2 years if I follow the plan. He recommended it for me because I, too, am a volume eater. Everytime I speak to him, he seems really excited about the possibilities, so it rubs off on me.

Look into it. Might be the best option after all :)

Jimbo lost 300 lbs and yes it can happen for you. I love my sleeve. i eat so little 3 meals a day and 2 snacks is what i am able to eat. I can only eat about 800 to 1000 calories a day. If you exercise and eat right you will get there.

It just takes time to loose all your weight.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.
