Intolerances
I threw up for the first time after my surgery (6/1/11) after eating tomato soup today, I didn't eat to much and I didn't eat to fast, my stomach seemed to just not like it. I was wondering what other things do fellow VSG'ers avoid due to intolerances? And has there been anything that you once avoided but now enjoy? I am really nervous cause I LOVE tomatoes and if I can't eat them in some form or another I will be sad, although I don't think I will be tempted with the tomato soup anytime soon.
Hello, Farmer's Branch! I am in Arlington! GO MAVS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have found that my tolerance and intolerance changes from day to day. One thing that I had a BAD problem with was a little bite of a new potato. That was a monath ago, but it turned me off potato. I can't stand the thought of them now.

I would agree with the other poster that maybe tomato soup is too acidic so early out...definitely try it again a few weeks down the road...
So far the only thing that really doesn't sit right with me is eggs. I can eat egg white powder added to my shakes, but I've tried a scramble egg twice a week apart, and it hurts inside the tummy, like a rock in there. I didn't throw up though.
Now for the weird part....I was very milk and lactose intolerant BEFORE surgery...but after surgery, about a week ago, I tried yogurt and had zero problems with it....I still take Lactaid supplements, just in case....but before surgery, the supplements still did not help so I avoided all dairy...so I'm hoping that maybe I can do more dairy also...time will tell....

Hello,
I got operated on Oct. 15, 2010. It is a day to day. Once I ate eggs and I was fine and a week later I threw up on them. To this day, when I eat bread, it hurts and I can eat pasta at all, I still throw it up. I was told that it will probably pass. The trick is to eat one spoon full and wait a few minutes to see how you are reacting, eat very slow. And yes, it changes, you need to try often but just a spoon full and very slowly. Good luck!!!! I did wait a while before eating anything with tomatoes but now I can eat them with no problems at all.

when i first started eating regular food chicken was not working really well for me. it was the first thing that made me throw up...however this past month it has been going down fine for me. i also experienced dumping syndrome with thai food once ( i think its the oil/greasy foods).
However now at 3 and a half months post op the only thing i cant really do is flour tortillas. i can do corn but not flour. =)
