Eh, in the first couple of weeks, just sip whenever you can.  If you're like me, I didn't even want to sip.  But, you need to in order to stay hydrated.  I would take a sip whenever I could and whenever I felt like it.  There really aren't any rules as to how much time in between.  Just don't guzzle...it won't feel that good.

I'm almost 7 weeks out, and I still mostly take small sips.  I've found that I can take bigger sips of some things, smaller sips of others.

For example:
- water, plain coffee: small sips
- crystal light, skim latte: medium sips
- plain milk: almost normal sized sips

Let me think....it maybe was 1 oz in a 15 minute period. Or maybe it was 2 oz. in 15 minutes. For me it was really tough to do. I have a lot of restriction and can't eat or drink much at any one time.

So to answer your question =   sip,,, wait a couple of minutes....another sip,,,,,wait a couple of minutes.....sip,,,wait,,,,sip,,,,,wait......
