Insurance excludes VSG

VSG on 04/24/12

Anything I can do to get them to pay for it? They have approved a few surgeries but only when the surgeon a letter explain why no other surgery can be done. My case worker says that this is normally because of GI problems. Has anyone else had this situation? No GI problems here so what to do?

Some people can get approved for the DS, and explain to your surgeon you'd like it done in two stages -- and just don't go back for the 2nd surgery.
I've heard of that working.

The surgeons in network don't do DS

.....so sad! Wish they did. I have the choice of Dr. Lara and Dr. Acosta in el paso...or Dr. Syn also in Tx

read my appeal letter that is in my blog page under "four and a half months out". it sucessfully appealed the investigational thing on vsg and had some medical reasons why this surgery was best for me. the need to take advil in the future for various reasons was one. check with your insurance dept for appeal procedures.
