Does or has anyone had resolution of their diabetes after having VSG?  How about reactive hypoglycemia?   Thanks for your response.

I am almost 1 month post-op and my diabetes has not completely resolved.  However, it has improved.  Pre-op, I took 110 units of Levemir insulin TWICE daily, as well as 1000 mg metformin TWICE daily and 4 mg Amaryl daily.  I am off the metformin and the Amaryl, and now only take 60 units of Levemir ONCE daily.  I'm hoping that, with additional time, I may be able to further decrease or even discontinue that as well.  Keepin' my fingers crossed!

I am 12 out and I have had to take my diabetic medicine. My numbers has been low as 82 and high as 110. That is awesome. Thats something to look forward to.

My diabetes was resolved in the hospital by the 2nd day after surgery.  My surgeon took me off meds (I was on metformin 1000mg twice daily).  I am grateful that my diabetes was not that serious my husband is on insulin and several diabetic meds to control his.  He is having the sleeve done Aug 11th. We are hoping and praying that his diabetes will resolve as well.  Or at least enough so he can get off insulin.

Not sure how anyone can say their diabetes is resolved after two days. I have - had - type 2 diabetes. The real test is the A1C which is a three month reading. Mine is currently 6.1. My understanding is that you won't know unitl at least thgrww months after surgery, to see tru results of A1C.

I had only been diagnosed with diabetes for about a year and I was just above the borderline diabetic mark.  My surgeon said most of his patients diabetes is resolved in the hospital within a few days of surgery.  But my surgeon said my diabetes was resolved and removed me from my metformin.

I was on 86 units of Lantus Insulin plus 2000mg metformin daily.  I'm now nearly six weeks out and only taking 500mg metformin.  My fasting blood glucose is running between 99 and 130, probably averaging around 120 or so.

I was on Actos and Byetta pre-op.  Haven't taken them since surgery.  My A1C was 5.1 at 2 months post op, and 4.8 at 6 months.  When I check my blood sugar, it's usually in the 85-95 range.
