hi all,

this is not a dire problem since i still can't eat very much thanks to my spiffy tool, but i'm so bummed that i still get hungry after hearing about no ghrelin after VSG!

pls tell me i'm not the only one!!!  the main problem is that i eat like a hungry person sometimes and not like a sleeve person.  ah well.  still learning at almost 7 mos out!

Unfortunately just like dumping with RnYers...the lack of hunger with VSGers is a crap shoot.  I don't get hungry even still at 4 years out BUT I know others who do.

Mine can vary...sometimes I've got the hungry horrors and sometimes I could go all day without much of anything.  Between meals, I try to have a drink rather than a snack and the craving often goes away.

I never really had physical hunger until recently and I am bummed about that because I really hate that growling tummy calling at me for food (although it is a small growl now).  I have, however, had head hunger from the very beginning.  I can control it much better than pre-op but it is still a b***h!!

I get hungry, but it feels a lot "quieter" than pre-VSG.  I like that I get hungry, it reminds me to eat.  If I didn't get hungry I likely wouldn't get all my protein in every day cause I am not so good at regimented schedules.  A very small amount of food fills me up, then I'm set for about 4 hours.  I know that one key for me is to really focus on eating slowly when hungry--that's is a situation where I could easily eat too fast.

For the most part - I'm not hungry - then I will have a few days where I finally am. I love those days...it seems like the scale finally moves!!  Not eating is not good!

You're not the only one. Unfortunately, I am one of those people who didn't lose the hunger after surgery. I'm only 2.5 months out and wish that I had the experience of forgetting to eat. Sometimes I feel that I'm only focused on food and eating. I find that it's worse when I'm at work. On weekends when there are other activities to occupy my time, it's a lot easier and I don't notice that I'm hungry (if that makes sense). I'm still learning too - and totally understand feeling bummed about the ghrelin. Trying to make the necessary changes and hoping that the feelings of hunger get better as I train myself how to eat with the sleeve. Thanks for posting this - I'm glad to know that others have the same feeling.

Hi!  Just wanted to let you know that I had hunger for the first 3 months.  Just recently, I started having no hunger for breakfast and lunch.  The only hunger I have now is after 3pm.

Maybe your hunger might go away a little sometime in the future, like mine did.

I woke up hungry from surgery.  The first year it wasn't so bad and I was satified with less food for longer.  Now I want to eat more often and I can eat more.  I am still trying to work out the fine points of diet where I can eat healthy, lose weight and not feel like I am starving all of the time.

I am over three years out, the good news if that I haven't gained any back.
