It's hard, ESP 1-2 days out but it does get better hon. I hope you are in the hospital and not outpatient. Hit that damn nurse call button and tell them to keep ahead on your pain meds.

Feel better and keep posting if need support.

The pain should not be getting ahead of you... push the button until someone does listen to you.  You've just had major surgery and there's no reason for you not to have pain control.

That's not saying you won't feel pain at all, it is expected.  It should not be to the extent that it's unbearable.  The body doesn't heal/recover as quickly if the pain isn't under control, and your doctor and nurses know this.  Make them listen.

Kerri - as tired as you are, you have to be a PITA to get what you need - pain meds!  You ring that buzzer and insist that they give you something NOW!!!  Be dramatic if you must!

Also, remember to get up and walk, walk, walk as soon as you can.  It REALLY helps with the gas pain (which is the worst) and helps you heal and feel better faster.  I promise!!

I'm only 3 weeks out and still a little sore and tired, so I remember this vividly.  You can do this.  You can be strong and get through it!  Remember why you've done this...to make your life better for you and your daughter.  We're all here for you....this, too shall pass!

I am still in hospital I keep telling nurses no one is listening. I have no one here with me and I feel stuck.  Also my stomach is growling, How the hell i thought the hunger was removed with stomach and I have been sipping ice chips water an d  have no issues swallowing or getting down how is this??? Almost wouldnt think I had surgery except for the death sized pain I'm in.  Scale to 1-10 20 and I cnt stop crying which is making it hurt more and I have also had a high tolerence for pain.

The hunger hormones can take weeks to leave your system if at all. Dont worry that you can swallow, be happy about it. I had problems with swelling and couldn't swallow at all.

The stomach is just reacting to the trauma and may make noises and growl for the next few days.

The pain I am concerned with. I would be emailing or calling your doc NOW...if you can post online you email or make a call.

I had sort of the same experience and when the nurses didn't come I pulled out my physician's card and called them directly.  My husband had left and I was alone so I had no choice.    Believe me I got full attention after that phone call.  They also had to increase my dose of Morphine through my pump, which made a big difference.  Don't be afraid to call your doctor yourself.

OK.. breathe...breathe.. and try really hard to relax your body. This may be that awful trapped gas..so you will NOT die..sorry hon.

The IV pump is programmed..so the RNs can only do what is ordered. Did you ask them to page your MD?
That IS their job to inform doc.

BUT if you try really really hard to relax your body..not move around and tense up..you can get ahold of this discomfort. You sound so panicky now. Can you get up and walk around to get some relief too?

HUGS my newly sleeved friend..we're here for you, the best we can be. This too shall end..

I did not have a pain pump, but the morphine did not work for me. Thank goodness the nurses called my doctor, and he ordered diluadid for me, which is a strong pain med, a bit different than morphine, and that did the trick for me. Have them call your doctor, and ask for him to leave a couple different orders for pain. You are going to have to try different things every few hours until you find out what is going to work.

By tomorrow, you may be feeling alot better, and should be able to tolerate oral pain meds.
