I was the same, except NO carbs. 2-3 shakes a day and nothing after midnight the night before surgery.

No pre-op diet here either.  All doctor's are different in terms of what they are comfortable with.  Good luck to you!

I had no pre-op diet what-so-ever. I was NPO after midnight the day of surgery.

two days before surgery was full liquid, than day before was the same, nothing after midnight night before.

I had lost 34 lbs pre-op over several months on a low calorie diet.

My surgeon didn't require any pre-op diet if your BMI was below 40.  Mine was 39-point-something, so I just skated by.  On my own I did the low carb thing and lost 5 lbs before surgery, though.

No liquids only here either, and I was allowed to eat whatever the heck I wanted the night before surgery and I did.

The only pre-op diet I had to follow was low carb/high protein through food. No bowel prep, no liquids only. Just stop eating/drinking after midnight the night before surgery.

My surgeon told me to eat low/no carb but said I did not have to do a liquid diet at all. Meanwhile, his partner has all of his patients do a liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery. I will have to do the clear liquid thing the night before surgery.

Interestingly, the two partners perform every surgery together. I have a feeling that one surgeon handles severely obese patients and the bypasses, and the other surgeon handles "lightweight" cases, lapbands, and VSGs.
