So who all watched BIG SEXY last night?  I liked all the girls.  I however have never been a positive as they are.  I have never been that comfortable in my skin.  I would never be able to walk a runway in a bathing suit.

I love Heathers clothing line..Bikini's and Bra's for busty broads !!!!

What did everyone think of the show?

I watched it! I like it. I was so pissed when they were waiting in line to go to the club and when they were finally allowed in they had to pay, such bull****

I thought it was AMAZING! I wish there would have been programs similar to that when I was younger. I think it might have allowed me to be much more confident in my own skin. I loved the ladies, and I completely related to Audrey... I'm tall and fat. I think I will be following this show closely!!
I would also say BRAVO to TLC for finally going outside the box and putting a positive spin on plus size gals.

While it's good to teach bigger people to have positive self image, what I really dislike about these shows is that it can come across as, "you're fine the way you are, you don't need to lose weight and be healthy". Yes, they ARE fine in personality and their lives, and people SHOULD respect and love them for that. They are not healthy, though. That's what you should lose weight for; to be healthy. Improving self esteem and image are awesome side effects, but it shouldn't be the reason to do even what we are doing with our sleeves. The goal is a long, happy life with no outstanding health complications. These types of shows, in my opinion, promote an unhealthy way of life under the veil of acceptance.

Wish I had the confidence to wear a bathing suit down a runway, but no way could I have done that.  Am building confidence as weight is coming off, haha!  Liked the show, was made aware of how lucky I am, my guy treats me like a queen, no matter the weight I am at.  These girls and trying to meet someone, really brought that home to me.
Will be checking out Heathers clothing line!

I thought it was great that they are showing that women can be beautiful not matter what size. I don't think they glamorized it in any way, just showed that big can be beautiful too.  However, watching the show I couldn't help but think how happy I am that I had surgery to give me a tool to get to a healthier weight.  Sad thing is that the world does have a stigma against overweight people and we saw that on the show when they went to the club.  They were beautiful women, but because of their size they were discriminated against. I will watch again for sure.

5 years ago, my husband and I went to see Green Day in San Diego.  It was a mixed crowd with those of us who had been following them since the early 90's and a lot of teenagers.  That ws the first time I really looked around and said, 'When the hell did Teenagers get so fat?  Holy crap, look at the muffin tops"

Call me cynical, but  I find shows ike this as disheartening as vanity sizing and plus-sized junior clothes.  Rationalizing 'fat beauty' ignores the myriad of health problems that come with obesity.  Instead of  saying, "gee, darling, it's okay to be fat, you'll still be beautiful.'  How about, "don't gat fat. It's unhealthy, and you'll have to dress like a frumpy old lady with enormous granny panties"

So I guess you like The Biggest Loser better. I haven'****ched either one. I can't stand 90% of what's on TV these days. It's all reality crap if you ask me. If I want reality I'll go visit the in-laws! At least that's not scripted.

I like to watch the workouts they do on BL, but I fast forward through the 'drama.'  Honestly, i really wish that there woudl be more focusing on teaching people (but especially girls) that their self-esteem should come from something besides their looks.  Seriously, some of the 'transformative power of weightloss' stuff really bothers me.  There's a lot more to me than my sillouette, and my confidence comes from a fundamental understanding that I have value as a human being other than as a hyper-sexualized ideal of a 'woman.'   I'll jump down off my soap box, now.
