I eat it almost every day. I know some people are more susceptible to water weight gain from the sodium than others. I do not have an issue with sodium, as I keep the rest of my day very low sodium. It is a great go-to snack for me that is very filling and full of protein.

Frisco - the voice of WLS reason. And of VSG success.

Heed his advive or ignore it at your peril.

No jerky for me of any kind, not even on a bet, although...I do occasionally have a dollop of peanut butter in my morning chocolate protein shake.

We're all individuals and must find our own way to make our WLS journey successful.

I do but I only eat what I make myself....that way I can control the sodium content....basically turns out to be just beef with some pepper...but stil flavorful....I'll smoke it for just a bit when I bbq, not enough to cook it but to ggive it some flavor....works good actually to put it on after the pit has cooled some....I have a huge smoker...so when it cools down to about 150 but there is still some light smoke, I slip it in there for 30 minutes then straight to the dehydrator...tastes great....low sodium....great treat...be careful with store bought though...

I get it sometimes when I am 'out' longer than I intended or if i have a cat show or craft show I have to be at all weekend, it can make you retain water, but I don't worry too much abou****er weight. If I had a 3 z pack of jerkey and ate it in 2 days, I know I will either not lose or will show a 1 or 2 pound gain on the third day, but heck--it's water, and comes right back off plus some by day 4-5

Jack Link's makes little single serving 100 calorie packages with 18g of protein.  I always keep them around, but use them mostly when I travel - something easy to carry around when stuck in airports and hotels.  I've always loved jerky and don't have any problems tolerating it.

I would not eat the store bought jerky as it is way too high in sodium and will slow your weight loss progress considerably.  I did and still do, make my own jerky in a dehydrator.   I reduce the sodium considerably.  It does not last as long as store bought jerky but I eat it in a few weeks anyway.  I also like to dehydrate shrimp.

I think you might also want to watch the sodium content... some jerky is really, really high and that can make you retain a lot of water which may slow down the weight loss. Also, too much salt is bad for blood pressure.
I suspect in small quantities it might not be a problem though.

I started eating it a couple weeks ago.  I try to keep some in my purse because my stomach feels like it is trying to eat itself when I get hungry and I hate the feeling.  So far it has not made a difference in my loss, but I don't plan to eat it frequently as it is high in sodium.
