No PPI = tighter-feeling sleeve?

So I forgot to take my meds before leaving for work today.  That includes Prilosec.  By this afternoon, I had some mild heartburn so that was confirmation I need to continue taking it.  But, oddly enough, I felt like my sleeve was really tight/small today.  I could barely eat my 2oz of grilled chicken for lunch where just yesterday (and probably every 2 out of 3 days) I can eat 2oz just fine and feed satisfied.  Today the 2oz felt like 5oz and I almost struggled to fini****  Also, as I drank my fluids today, I felt them sit in my stomach for a second where normally I can feel them go right through.

Is there a connection here?  Or just an anomoly?

I dunno. I do have "tiny tummy" days now and then.

Just for gigggles I'll try it tomorrow and PM you with my experimental findings.

Sure it can. The inflammation and irritation from over-production of acid can cause your sleeve to feel different. I forgot to take mine the other day until mid morning, and I couldn't eat for a good 4 hours. Totally wrecked my day on my calorie/protein/carb goals for the pregnancy.

Do you have to stay of PPI's forever?
Does it cause a dependancy for your stomach
so it cannot regulate itself?

It varies by patient. I choose to stay on mine because I don't want to feel hunger. Some report weaning off and feeling hungry. Hunger scares me, I have admitted it numerous times. Plus, I've had breakthrough reflux in the pregnancy, and well, I was miserable. Even on 40mg of Nexium, I was sick and couldn't eat. NOT fun and definitely not good for me.

Some are able to wean off 3-6 months post-op. However, reflux, in my opinion, is nothing to play with. If you aren't familar with Barrett's esophagus, read up on that one. It scares the poop out of me severely.

If I don't take my PPI (God help me first of all ) - after the initial hunger feelings, I cannot eat. It's a mix between just an upset stomach and some inflamation, but there's definitely a connection. I've put some extra pills at work, in my car, in my lunch bag, because I cannot afford to forget (and ive never had a good track record with pills ever).
