Isn't it pork chops that have all the microscopic worms in it?  There is a video somewhere of pouring Coke all over a pork chop and they come crawling out.

If you fully cook pork, then any parasites are killed.

I'm a microbiologist and my favorite class in college was parasites!  Some cool, but disturbing stuff I learned.

Ack, I think if I became a microbiologist I would end up like Monk. One episode of "Monster Inside Me" on Animal Planet was enough to make me borderline OCD about things like sandboxes and lake water

Sure, say that to the lady who is a little nuts about parasites  I had to snopes it just b/c that's what I do, and it's not true, but still the visual might be enough that I won't ever eat pork again (except bacon, b/c who can live without that? LOL).

Well, try to look on the bright side a bit, mashed potatoes aren't good for us anyway! I hope everything calms down with your tummy and things get a little more "normal".

You wanna know what's insane??? At nearly 28 months post-op, to this very day, pork chops, pork tenderloin(even slow cook and sauced up) both sit in my sleeve like a ton of bricks for hours on end. Worse experience with meat EVER. It's the weirdest thing in the world. I haven't had pork chops in probably 18 months because the last experience was so bad. Now if I eat say pulled pork at a barbque place, I can manage that without discomfort, but I'm lucky to get in 2-3oz and there better be 2oz of sauce to slather it in. It might as well be pulled pork with barbque gravy.

I'm the most carnivorous girl in my social group, but I can't eat pork.
