I'm 63 and had my sleeve done 10/19.  I'm feeling great but still having trouble getting in the protein and fluids.  (Thanks to those *****cently posted protein recipes.  They have been very helpful.)  Each day is geting better, though. I was also concerned about my age for this procedure but with the encouragement and support of my PCP and cardiologist and after meeting with the bariatric doctor explaining the sleeve and its benefits, I knew that this was he right thing for me to do.  I'm looking forward to "healthy".
Still haven't figured out how to "activate" my ticker!!
Consult wt.-346,  day before surgery wt.-296 (50 lbs lost pre-op, low carb, high protein) cw-283
Congratulations on your decision to get the sleeve.  I wish you the best.   Let us know your progress. Judy

I am soo happy for you!  I turned 50 this month and I am scheduled for two weeks from today.  After all I have learned, it will be a better life!  You will do great!  Excited to have so many +50's here along with the younger people!  We all learn from each other.

Hello Suzanne,

My name is Rebecca but all my friends call me Ro, it's great to meet you! My surgery is scheduled for Dec 8th and I understand totally what you are going through. In fact, I think I must've tossed and turned every min 5 mins last night while sleeping, just so much going through my mind. So, like all the other posters, this is normal.
I wrote down a list of all my pros vs. cons and when I have days like the one you had, I pull this out and it reminds me of why I'm doing this and gets me excited for the we me!

Best of luck to you Suzanne and please keep us posted on your surgery, I'll be looking for your updates!

Suzanne,  My surgery is scheduled for Dec 2ND and I understand what you are going through. Last nigh I had a panic attack thinking I picked the wrong surgeon and that maybe I could do this on my own. I am consider a lightweight only having to lose 80-90 lbs since the start.  How will I manage Thanksgiving on a liquid diet? Trust in the Lord and know everyone is praying for you.
Keep us posted

I am 61 and had my VSG on June 28.  I have lost 40 lbs since the surgery and about 80 all together.  The surgery was not too hard - the healing has been fabulous.  I am not hungry and am steadily losing weight and keeping to the plan.  I have lost so much weight that I have finally gotten thin enough to get the long awaited Total Hip Replacement that I need and am feeling very positive about my life moving forward.  Just do it and don't look back.  From one Jersey Girl to another...Go for it
