No movement since one week post-op
One week after surgery I visited the PCP and weighed in at 293. I had lost a total of 14lbs after surgery. Today 5 weeks later I weigh 291.8. I congratulate those who have done so well and have lost the weight but today I officially quit and regret what I have done to myself. I shoulda /woulda/ coulda did Atkins!
Going to research how to get my body into Ketosis.
The scale does what it does -- you can't control the numbers. Just keep doing the right thing every day and it will pay off. The pounds don't come off in a logical, even manner, but in the long run they will come off if you are eating what you should and exercising on a regular basis.
Instead of measuring your success by the scale, start measuring your success by your behavior.
-- How many days in a row can you log onto MFP and track your intake?
-- How many days in a week can you exercise?
-- How many minutes more can you exercise at one time?
-- How many glasses of water do you drink in a day?
Start tracking your success by the behaviors that will make the scale move over time, not by the number the scale gives you every morning.
After a while, you will start to see how random the number on the scale can be every morning, but you will also see that over time that number keeps going down. You just can't predict what it will do, but you can predict what you will do to get yourself where you need to be.
Good luck!

Please do not give up ! It is normal to stall out, and not lose any weight. Have you measured yourself to see if you are losing inches ? I lost weight the first 2 weeks, then stalled out for a three week plauteau where I lost nothing !!! Then it started again !
I would post your daily (or two or three days) of EVERYTHING you eat and drink in a day here. Let some of us who have been there and done that take a look. Also post exactly how much and what kind of exercise you are doing. Sometimes it takes someone else to take a look and see what might be going on !
For me, at one point, I needed to eat more protein -- alot more, and folks here were able to point that out and help me get back on track....another time I needed to bump UP my calories to start losing weight again !
Post on here what you are eating and drinking, and how much you are able to move in a day ! Really, we CAN usually help !!!
You may even get 5 or 6 different ideas, and you can do one for a couple weeks, and see what happens, and then try another.

I'm so sorry you're having trouble getting the scale to move. Fortunatly, the math on this does add up. If you take in less calories than your body requires, your body will use its various stores to fuel your body. As you know this surgery forces you to eat fewer calories than your body needs. I can't imagine at 5 weeks out you are even able to consider the possibility of eating too many calories. Still, do you mind posting your food log for the last week, being very specific on brands of protein shakes and weights/measurements of your meals(if you've done the numbers post the calories/protein/carbs/fluid intake as well)? I would even like to see you do this daily here for a week or two so that we can help you find anything that may be putting you on hold. That being said, it is still entirely possible that your body is retaining water or slowing your metabolism to the point that it is reserving energy as best it can. Have you been feeling weak over the past few weeks, more than expected atleast? Have you been able to do any exercise? Work with us here and I bet we'll be able to get you jumpstarted. I'll be praying for you. I know it must be so frustrating to be in your position but we'll get you through it and into losing weight asap!
Don't give up! Like the others said, you should evaluate what you are eating and make any necessary adjustments. As long as you stay within the guidelines, you should lose weight. I was a bit frustrated early on also, but after reading everyone's posts, I knew that stalls were inevitable. No one likes them, but the are part of the process and you need to accept it (even if you don't like it).
Sometimes the body is losing pounds. Sometimes inches. Are your clothes fitting looser? The weight will not come off overnight, but it will come off. Please step away from the scale and focus on some positive thoughts now. Try on some clothes that were tight. You may be pleasantly surprised. Hang in there!
