Ladies-clothing size question?
I am getting close to to goal and dropping sizes like every 3-4 weeks it seems. I am now below a size 10 (size 8 jeans!).
How much weight do you tend to drop before your size changes? It has been forever since I was in the normal sizes so I don't know what to expect. I'm trying to predict where I am going to end up if I do hit 140. Right now I am 163, 5'5 and wear 8's (some 10's).
This sleeve is amazing! I never thought I would get this small in clothes before hitting goal.

Sort of not any easy/hard question.
The easy answer is 10 lbs = 1 dress size.
The harder answer is losing inches and how that can affect how stuff fits. Also, just to make things more *fun* each and every clothes maker in the world has their own sizing chart.
Pretty much, you have to try it all on and be ready to go up or down a size or two depending.
not that any of us are complaining.
BUT I am going to a wedding this weeknd and I have two dresses (still have not choosen one LOL) one is a 16 and the other is a 12 and they both fit perfectly, so I think it depends on the store, cut and how it falls on you.
I know for me, I thought I'd be lucky to see a size 6 at goal weight, since I hadn't been that small since high school and that was at 125 lbs...but with the way my body is now, I am already in 6's, some 4's, and I still have more pounds to lose to get to my goal weight of 140....I figured I was close enough and bought quite a few small tops and 6 bottoms...but now they are baggy again...it's nuts! And pretty unpredictable, where you will land...so hold off as long as you can and buy very little until you are positive that you are staying put where you are. I never imagined, I'd need XS of anything!
I think with vanity sizing, it is also very hard to tell, what size you need...it is frustrating that it isn't standardized at every store. And I know it is not the same sizing from when I was in high school, since then I wore 6's or 7/8 juniors and medium tops....and now those same sizes are too big!
Right there with you!.
I was 137 in 1993 and a size 9-12 depending on the brand. Huge difference these days. It makes things confusing but I am just along for the ride!
Thanks ladies.

Cothing sizes were standardized until being deregulated in the 1980's. As a general rule, add 2-3 sizes to 'today's size to get the equivalent, old, 'standard' size. A size 6 today is about the same as a 10 or 12 when I was in high school. Back then, a 30 inch waist was a size 16, now it's more like a 12. When I gained my 'freshman 15' my first year of college and went to a size 10 to 14, and I was horrified at my 28" wasit! I'm a little smaller than that right now, and I'm a 6-8. I remember my measurements pretty clearly because I sewed a lot of my own clothes. I worked as a seamstress/tailor part-time to help pay for college.
