Grilled Seasoned Ground Chicken Medallions (1.2 oz. ea.) in a couple of oz. of Tomato/Bell Pepper Soup (Trader Joe's) with quick microwaved cabbage.

Was a perfect meal for me......!

Dammit Frisco... I hate you!!! Stop posting these things! I'm on liquids and this stuff is SOOO freakin amazing looking. It really IS food porn!

So seriously, do you have your recipe stuff written anywhere? Are these JUST maintenance foods or are they for the WL stage too?

Yah know.... I really don't know how to answer that question anymore.......

Every bodies eating plan seems ALL OVER THE PLACE now.......when I started this thing there seemed to be MUCH more continuity.......no more......

When I show the food I'm eating.... I'm not showing direct recipes per see....I'm showing food combinations....
The viewer needs to determine portions and content as per their plan.

Also it is supposed to inspire GREAT EATING after WLS......I thought my eating days were done post-op....only to find out it can be creatively delicious !

This meal works for me because it has:

- Protein
- Lubrication from a small amount of soup (think gravy)
- Under cooked Cabbage for fiber
- The total contents should be near my sleeve capacity. (haven't eaten yet)
- Flavor

I did the same type of dish for WL.....a little less or none of the cabbage......

On the subject of post surgery eating........Well, most recently.....yours scares me the most....I hope you proceed on the cautious side. It is OK to extend your liquid and mushie stages..... I did... didn't start solids till 6 weeks out with Surgeons Blessings....he said longer the better.....My first solid was a half of a scrambled egg.

Mine scares you? I haven't eaten anything at all! You must be talking about my "first meal" that I WANTED. Yeah... I was wishing. I see the surgeon on Tuesday and I think at that point I will be adding the really soft stuff like yogurt an cottage cheese. The paper says I can do scrambled eggs and refried beans, CHEESE, FISH, tofu all 1 week out... but after the poster said something to me I thought about it and kinda think it sounds crazy too. I'm definitely going to go to mushies soon but I kinda don't know what they are because I have it written down (from here) that cottage cheese and yogurt are considered a full liquids but I haven't had any of that stuff. I'm just confused... and there's no way I can do 6 weeks for an egg. I don't know how the heck you did that!!!

Oh yeah, my surgeon adds chicken, turkey, crab, shrimp and oatmeal at 1 month and you can add everything else as you see fit.... *sigh* Too many differing opinions of what to do.

As for your food, in a 3 months, I'm going to your house.

Looks delicious! Frisco, when you say something is 1.2 oz. - is that before it is cooked or after? I am just starting my purees, but am wondering do I measure it before or after it is cooked? I want to do it right b/c I sure don't want to get sick... thanks.

Great question....

It's always about the end product your going to put in your stomach....so after cooking weight.

Measuring foods can be tricky......

Generally..... you want measured food by volume.....measuring cup....or containers,
You sleeve was sized for volume.....it doesn't measure weight.

Dense proteins seem better to be measured by weight.... seems a bit more accurate and weight and volume can be close.

Thanks! That makes sense; but it could be tricky to decide what is "dense" couldn't it? Like ground meat, flank steak, etc. would be more dense than baked tilapia? So you weigh your meats after cooking like steak and chicken, but other foods you measure by cup?

I have been just on liquids since Nov. 28 and the thought of actually chewing food is kinda scaring me - even starting purees tomorrow is the same thing. So I guess I should weigh my purees in a measuring cup? Is that right? Sorry to be a pest here, but you seem to know alot about this... thanks again.
