that's awesome that your working so hard at it! keep it up! i always eat after a workout. You have to give your body something to work with after a workout, esp for your muscles. I usually go for a protein shake and a nice small protein enrich meals. I feel less sore the next day.

I HAVE to thave protein after working out.  I honestly can't go without it. I don't get hungry per se, but I crave protein.   I use a protein shake/protein coffee after working out.  You might try adding another protein drink earlier in the day, as well.  I start and end my day with protein coffee.

What's your protein goal and what are you achieving?

I am often famished after working out.  It's a very vulnerable time for me because I think I go into survival mode, and I want to eat the world.  When my muscles feel weak and shaky, all I can think of is getting something - anything - to eat.   Planning ahead is key, and getting enough water is also key (I think I often misinterpret thirst for hunger).

Absolutely need to eat after working out. My personal trainer insists on eating healthy carbs after a workout because you need the carbs to help build back the muscle you just tore apart in working out. A couple bites of mashed sweet potato with your protein after a workout and you'll fill sooooooo much better. Great job on you loss!

I have .5 cup of greek yogut, plain, with a tsp of sugar free jam about an hour before I workout. After I have a protein shake.
If I didn't have these snacks I would be famished!
I still eat only about 800 cals a day with these added snacks.

Dailey,

Yes, I am the same way!!! I try to eat a high protein snack before my workouts or a shake, but after working out for 1-2 hours and then some sauna time, I am HUNGRY!!!

I just maintain this philosophy: if my body says it is hungry, I feed it. Now, I know the difference between head hungry, water hungry and natural hunger and I make sure I am alert to all of them. However, what you feed your body after the workout is just as important as prior to.

Personally, at my size and the amount of activity I engage in, I have had to up the calories, up the carbs slightly and continue my 80-100 grams of protein. I don't know how you eat only 400-550 max; kudos to you!

Keep up the good work!!!!
