What's your pretend pre-op yoyo diet victory weight?

I know, a bit of an odd title.

I was reading one of the top 50 most posted subjects - you know, "I'm losing weight on my pre-op diet, so should I still have the surgery?" that so many of us hang up on.

I was a yo-yo dieter.... lose gain lose gain lose gain losegainlosegainlosegain

When I was filling out various forms for different surgeons and insurance stuff, I had to list over and over again all the diets I had tried and the amount of weight I had lost on them.  I had no idea how much weight I had regained in my life.

I took my heightest weight (310) and added up all the weight I had lost since I started dieting as a teenager.  If I had never regained a pound I lost with diet and exercise, before my surgery I would have been a 5'10" man weighing only 40 pounds.  (i.e., dead)

I was shocked to realize that I had lost - and regained - that much weight in my life.  I love telling people this little factoid now.

So what's your pretend pre-op yo-yo diet victory weight?  Anyone that's would weigh in the negative?

Honestly I was never a yo-yo dieter, the summer before I became a freshman in HS I did WW with my stepmother, lost down from 215 to 180. By the end of the year I was back to 215. I held steady at that weight until about three years later when I moved out on my own and worked full time at a Dairy Queen, I often ate two or three meals a day at work and my weight went up to about 250 in a very short time. I held there for a bit, and then slowly creeped up to 275. I tried WW for about two months before my wedding and got down to about 260 (yeah, I was not trying very hard LOL). Was back up to 275 before I got home from my honeymoon.

I struggled though fertility treatments and several failed pregnancies, putting on more and more weight, finally had the triplets and came out on the other side of that at over 300 lbs. Stayed around 320 until I got my band.

I lost down to about 220 with the band, then I got pregnant with our little "surprise", and my weight went up to 250 during the pregnancy, and then dropped to 240 after he was born. Got my VSG and am now the lowest weight I have been since I was maybe in the 4th or 5th grade.

By your formula, my answer would come to something like 80 pounds! I'm short, but not that short! lol

In reality though, the most I can usually get to on a diet before I fall off the wagon puts me at weighing right around 200. For some reason, it happens every time I get close to Onederland.

Hadn't quite thought of it in those terms, but.....

I'd weigh about 50 pounds if I started at my consult weight! Not enough even for a guy that's short!

I added up the 4 major weight losses of my lifetime and then the bazillion times I lost 5 or 10 pounds with half assed effort. Turns out I've lost quite a bit more than the weight I want to be at goal!

I love you Ruggie... you always make me smile no matter what!  But on the serious side of this question, I'm 5'3" and would weigh 51 lbs!  Yikes, it's hard to believe we actually did this to our bodies.

i am 60 years old so i did this more times than the rest of you. lost the same 5 or 10 about 6 times in high school. A big 50 after grad school. probably 30 three other times. then i gave up dieting as I decided it always made me fatter.  There are probably a few diet episodes that I have mentally blocked as I liturally started in the 5th grade.  But from what I can remember I would be about 47 lbs.  Probably less.   Diane

I'll be 62 in a few weeks.  I lost 80-90 lbs once a decade, from my teens to my 40s.  In my 50s I lost the ability to diet, somehow, so stayed in the 250s for those years, and had surgery at 60.

So starting at my highest (known) weight, 268, and an average loss of 85 lbs four times, I would be minus-72 lbs.  If you include the weight loss from surgery, I would be minus-208 lbs!  (I'm 132 lbs this morning, so down 136 from high weight).
