Hi All,

I am a healthy gal but my BMI is 55.4 and I am going to having VSG laproscopically in the next 2 months hopefully. I have a desk job and will have the surgery on a Wednesday. Will I be felling well enopugh to go back to work the following Monday? I am expecting to feel awful for a couple days. Has anyone gone back to work after 5 days?

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Best,

Sharon

Hi...I had my surgery on a wednesday and returned to my desk job the following monday.  I was tired by the end of the day but made it the whole week without leaving early.  I had no complications or pain from surgery, so I was very fortunate.  Best of luck to you!

My BMI is in the 60's and I have surgery in two weeks. So, I don't know yet.

But you may have better luck with this question on the BMI 50+ board: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/bmi_over_50/

Good luck with your journey!

Probably, but you'll need to really take it easy while at work. I was well enough to hike around downtown Tijuana with my dad after about four days. Just bring some protein shakes and extra wound dressings and you'll be alright.

My husband had a BMI similar to yours when he had his done, and he was able to go back to work within a week. Surgery was on a Wednesday, and by Monday he was driving himself to his postop appointment.

It is strictly an individual thing as with anything...........some people are OK 2 days post-op  some may take several weeks....you wont know till you have surgery....mostly a "wait and see"  thing  Remember YMMV (your mileage may vary!)
