Mayo-Which way do you roll ?

If buying mayo I am definitely a Best Foods / Hellman's girl. But lately I am making my own instead. Doesn't take much time and I am avoiding canola oil, which is present in almost all of the commercial brands, even the olive oil ones.

Easy to do and very rich and tasty!

PreOp Hellman's only, clear winner IMO.   PostOp...@ 2 months I cant afford the calories, I have made egg and tuna salad a few times, I use kefir to mix it with my spices.. greek yogurt seemed a little too thick IMO...  I should have made my user name KefirBoy...I make and use the stuff every day...  I'm becoming like the father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding...who used Windex.... for everything... "Put some Kefir on It", LOL  (ps. that's whole milk Kefir too, referencing smbergie200's fat post)

Once in your life you gotta try homemade mayonaise. Its very easy with a food processor and involves raw egg yolks which is why it used to be a food safety issue. Then you can choose the oil that goes in it whether it be olive, cannola or whatever.  Its to die for.

Gotta admit I don't make it as I don't use much mayo.  Only for tuna salad and I confess I use the fat free junk as in tuna it doesn't taste much different. That would not be true for egg salad or other stuff.  I grew up in a household where real mayo was one of the five food groups and my dad ate gobs of it. So I liked it best. I do pass it up now - just too many calories.   Diane

I'm with the "Miracle Whip is nasty" crowd.  I can't stand that stuff.

I think my favorite ever was Duke's but they don't have it here (CA).  I try it when visiting relatives in South Carolina.

Out here in CA.....my fave is probably Trader Joe's Organic Mayo.
