Do i need Help? Advice or Patience?

I don't know if I'm in a stall or what but I'm a little frustrated or maybe alot.

I'm about 41/2 months out and have lost half my goal and am working on the other 50lbs to make it to my goal. I haven't really lost in the past few weeks. So i increased my exercise by adding 2 1 hr yoga classes, plus 2 1 1/2  hr classes for body sculpting/w cardio and 1 1hr spin class a week. plus i do 45 mins of walking 3 times a week. this is my second full week of this and yet the scale isn't moving. I feel like a hamster on a wheel!

I know you want to know what i eat so yes i am drinking 60-80 oz of water every day, doing vitamins/calcium, and eating 80-100 gr of protein 45-60 gr of carbs and eating 700-950 calories a day.

I'm 46 so idk if that makes a difference but any comments or constructive criticism or friendly advice would be sooooo welcome

thx

All I can do is tell you what I would do and what I am pretty sure my doctor would tell you.  If this was me, I would cut my calories down to the 600 level, reduce my carbs to UNDER 40, way under if you can.  I would eliminate all processed foods, reduce sodium and mostly just concentrate on eating clean, lean, dense protein and low carb veggies for two weeks.  I can almost bet this will break your stall.  In general, I have almost never seen exercise break stalls.  Good luck to you and congratulations on the weight you have already lost.

I'm right there with you.  I am almost 4 months out and have hit a slow down/stall twice now in the last month.  It can be very disheartening.  I spoke to my surgeon about it and he explained that it happens.  Sometimes our bodys just need to take a break and adjust for a bit.  His advice was stick to my plan (600 cal a day max, under 40g of carbs) and the weight will come off.

The leader of my support group recommended increasing both water and exercise.  It seems everyone has their recipe for breaking a stall.  Their kind of like opinions i think, everyone has one and everyone else's stinks - LOL.

Still, like you, I want it off NOW.  I am just a few pounds from my 50% mark and it seems I am fighting those pounds tooth and nail.

I am also on supplements and making sure I get at least 60 (usually more) protein.  The only way to lose the weight is to burn more than you take in.  In a typical day I may have 2 eggs and a cheese stick for breakfast, maybe eggs and 2 turkey sausage patties.  For lunch either cottage cheese or greek yogurt, then 3 oz of some chicken preparation for dinner.

You are working out a lot!  Way to go.  Have you considered that you are converting fat to muscle?  Maybe keep measuring yourself as a second indicator in addition to scale?  I work out a lot too, and don't want to only take in 600 kcal/day.  I think you're doing everything right & you will see the benefit of this.

You are pretty active for so few calories. Did you ever think of maybe trying to up the calories a tad. I know everyone always gives the advice to lower the calories, but some of my stalls have been broke by simply eating more, especially when being active on a daily basis. Its just my opinion and many wont agree with me but its worth a shot.

i have though about this but i am so afraid (im sure its common) to let food creep its way back in.  The trainer i go to wants me to try 1100 on the 3 days i work out hardest, but there are so many saying eat 600 calories i dont know what to do.
sometimes its like a maze trying to figure out which is going to work, you ever feel like that?

I know what you mean. I have always done things my way against others advice. I refuse to eat low fat and I eat alot more calories than most people. The one thing I learned is that just because we all have had the same surgery doesn't mean there is a one size fits all diet. It is just guidlines and is not writtin in stone. Everyone responds differently and you just have to find what works for you. Playing around with a few hundred calories isn't going to destroy your progress as long as your careful to monitor your weight. For example I remember at the beginning trying to keep my carbs around 20. I felt dizzy and miserable and once I upped them a bit I felt like myself again. But again you have to be wise about whatever adjustment you decide to make. I think they said that doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.

Good luck with figuring this out. You can do this!

I agree with one of the previous posters that you are exercising a lot and may need to up your calories.  Also, whatever you do you need to give it a couple weeks for everything to even out.  Maybe do what your trainer said and up your calories a bit on your hardest working days.  Do this for a couple weeks and see what happens.  Whatever you do, you can't expect overnight results like you could right out of surgery.  Your body is on to you and will do anything it can to preserve the status quo.  There was also a great post, can't remember where I found it but it has to do with exercising and glycogen.  I  know I'm going to botch the reasoning so I would just google it, if I were you.  There is some reasoning that your scale will jump up when exercising intensely before it goes down.

Anyway, hope this helps.
