Just had my VSG done last monday.  Im on full liquids, and I cannot stand greek yogurt.  Any ideas? Also I am having a lot of gas after eating my total of 4 oz's for each meal.  Anyone else with this issue?

Are you eating or drinking your 4 oz? Liquids means liquids, so I am assuming you mean drinking. Go slow if you get gas. You are probably swallowing air when you drink or you may be reacting to something in your liquids (colors, sweeteners, lactose, etc).

Cottage cheese and ricotta cheese may be ok as greek yogurt subs, but they aren't liquids obviously.

Welcome to sleeveland! Its pretty cool!

Thank you....I have been trying to not drink my 4 oz's but of course it's tough LOL  I have been eating 2 oz's of tomato or cream of broccoli, and then of course the haggard 2 ozs of greek yogurt.  Im wondering if 4 oz's of just the soup would be fine.

At first I didn't like greek yogurt either.  I started adding sugar free sryups and sweetners to it or maybe a little sugar free jam/spread and that made the taste more bareable.  Now I'm fine with the plain taset and use it often in place of sour cream or other things.  Keep working at it you will find something that you like.

Keep up the good work, it will be worth it!

I didn't like Greek yogurt either. Since it has so much of protein,  I kept trying to add things like powdered mix ranch dressing (OK but not the greatest still a little sour but I could get it down).
My main stay now is a little bit of vanilla (cuts the sourness) sweetener and Cinnamon.
Experiment a bit. You can't beat the amount of protein it has for such a small serving.

Nothing to add except that we're surgery buddies. I'm 1-week out tomorrow, too. I've only been allowed clear liquids for a week. I think I might get moved to cream soups tomorrow. That'll be fantastic. Like you, I hate yogurt so I don't know what I'll do about that. I guess I'll choke it down with a big smile.

I got a lot of gas after taking in foods or liquids early out too.  For me, it was a symptom of stomach acid.  Are you on an acid reducer?  If not, ask your surgeon about it.  High levels of stomach acid are a very common post-VSG issue, and you may need to be on a PPI for a few months.  My surgeon had me on Nexium, but I actually ended up cycling thru about four different ones before I found one that works for me (generic Protonix Rx).

The suggestions you received are good ones. I would just that you might try adding some unflavored protein to your soups, which would help to increase the protein content. Just be sure that the soup isn't too hot or the protein will clump up.

i wasn't a fan of the FF greek yogurt either but I add a smidge of Agave syrup (sweetener) or I just mix in some strawberry mousse syntrax nectar protein powder and it then tastes like strawberry yogurt. If I wasn'****ching carbs so closely I'd add some homemade granola but maybe on maintenance I can do that.

I would just replace it though if you hate it all together, try some lowfat cottage cheese when you are allowed to have that.
