My hubby and I both had WLS.  He had the RNY and I had the Sleeve.  I go on the RNY forum along with the sleeve forum on a regular basis.  Ive read many times on the RNY forum that they need to have 100% Whey Protein because it is what they absorb best.

Is that true for us who are sleeved as well or can we have any kind of protein?  I ask because Ive been having issues finding a protein shake that I like.  The other day I picked up some GNC Pro Performance Lean Muscle Meal and it was AWESOME!    The only thing is that it isnt 100% Whey Protein.  Will this be ok for my protein shake?  It has 25 grams of protein per drink.

I've read several times to skip casein as a protein source.  I understand about having a tough time getting a protein that works for you.  I think you have to just keep trying.  The two I can tolerate are Premier ready to drink chocolate from Costco and Optimum Nutrition 100% whey vanilla ice cream.  I use the vanilla everyday mixed with water and a little diluted orange juice.  The chocolate is once in a while as I can only stand to drink half at a time.

My dietician STRESSES to only drink 100% whey protein ISOLATE and nothing else.
