I've read tons of ur posts frisco and I have so much respect for ur journey! but, with all due respect, that's not what i meant...

I meant being a nurse doesn't make fighting the addiction any easier... I agree she made a huge mistake, and looking back probably realizes she shouldn't have even put herself in that position...

My point was nurse or not, we're all human, we make mistakes, we hope our mistakes don't turn out as a worst case scenario, we pick our selves up, and get back on the horse (so to speak)... same as everyone else

Good for you! I'm glad the harsh responses (mine included) got your attention and helped you get back on track.

This is not an easy journey - especially at first. Counseling sounds like a great idea. There is also a book I can recommend. It is called The Beck Diet Solution. I read it pre op and it helped me deal with some pretty heavy food issues. It's a good reference and is set up to use on a daily basis. It's written by a psychologist with lots and lots of experience dealing with us food addicts.

Also, remember OH is here to help you stay on track before you stray. If you're having a craving let us know. Get it out there in the open. It loses power when you do that - at least it does for me.

I am soooo relieved to read that you are doing better, that you called your surgeon, and you seem to have truly learned from the experience.  I am proud of you for that- rough lesson, but one not easily forgotten!  Welcome back to the wagon!

Just a side note.  Once a ways back I posted about cheating one night, and one of the OH supporters (Ruggie or Doggz I think) pointed out that my husband was very enabling.  I had never considered that before, and we ended up having a long long talk about it.  Now a few months later he has lost 55 pounds (no WLS) and I am steadily on track, although not perfect.  Something to think about for you- not sure if that played a role or not for you.

Peace.

Nikki, now that sounds like you got your head in the game!!!  Bravo,  I will keep you in my prayers and support you in encouraging ways from now on.  We all care for each other too much to let any of us die.  The support is so important and even those of us who were harsh only did it to help you realize what you just realized in you post.  You can do this.  Slow down, tiny bites, never drink with your meal and wait 1 hour after before you drink again.  Lots of other helps comin your way.  Please stay connected.  I care about you!
