Okay so I am 7 months out down 85 pounds and My mom is saying she thinks I need my thyroid checked because I am losing weight to slow ??? I told her the doctors think I am doing fine am I wrong should I have lost more? This is sooo frustrating for the first 4 months I lost like 50 pounds the last thirty have been slower and I had a stall there for a time. I am just worried.

It's very normal for our weight loss to slow over time.  We can't expect to lose all our weight overnight.  Right now, at 9 months out, I am close to goal and only losing a few pounds per month.  I think you are fine.

Remember that our bodies burn a certain amount of calories to maintain basic metabolic processes.  As we get smaller, there is less energy needed to run those processes, so the amount of calories burned to run them is less.  But, often we are still eating the same amount.  It's all part of the calories in/calories out equation.  That's why I think it's so important to hold calories as low as possible during the losing phase.  The further out you get, the less calories you need, but we tend to do the opposite and actually eat more as our capacity expands a little.

Anyhow, you can also up the exercise to burn more.  But it's very normal for weight loss to slow and stalls are also very typical.

Hope this helps!

I think I am just worried that I wont lose this weight and this surgery wont work for me. I just have to remember that i didnt gain it over night and I wont lose it overnight but lord its hard to remember that when you look at the scale.

Maybe it's because I have not had surgery yet, but I think you are doing AWESOME! 85lbs in seven months is a lot of weight to lose. How much further do you have to go? Keep your head up you are doing great!

The people that loss 100 pounds in 6 months or less are either very lucky or obsessive about it. I am losing slow, at 10 weeks I am not dropping as I did at first, but losing is losing and I will take it.
Remember  it's bariactric surgery, not brain surgery! You need to get your head in the game!!!!

The fact is that some of us lose slower than others but what's important is that you are still losing.

What do you eat in a typical day and how often and to what intensity do you excercise?

don't fret about the weight loss, I keep telling myself the same thing since  I am in the same boat.  I have dropped 75 lbs and find that my body currently likes where I am at. Personally I want to be down another 10 or 15 which my doctor says may or may not happen since I have lost over 82% of my weight.  It is a daily struggle to make sure my carbs stay low and I get my exercise in.  I have given myself until my 1 year surgeversary to make my goal so I still a little over 4 months to go.  Since my 5 month mark I am only losing an average of 4 lbs a month so i am trying to stay positive.  It will come, we must remain positive for each other.

good luck,
chelle

YOu are doing great..I think 85 lbs in 7 months is awesome!  You always lose faster in the beginning when you have more to lose.  Stalls happen to all of us...you just have to keep doing what you are doing and the scale will move...I promise!
