I have a question? I am on my 2 week liquid diet. I had an Adkins shake for breakfast and a Pineapple delight w/ splenda plus added Whey protein smoothie.  Did I make a bad choice for lunch?  I noticed that the smoothie has 345 cal, 24g Protein, and 63 carbs in it. Should i be counting calories or cabs on my liquid diet. My doctor never mentioned it.

I believe that you should be aiming for no more than 800 calories per day (ideally between 600-800) , at leat 64 oz water/other zero calorie liquids, at least 60 g protein per day  and no more than 40 g carbs per day-these are the written dietary guidelines of my surgeon.

There are several low carb brands besides Atkins.  I like the Syntrax Nectar chocolate truffle flavor, and there are lots of other flavors if you prefer fruity drinks.  And today I tried About Time birthday cake flavor.  0 carbs, 0 sugar, 100 calories, 25 grams protein.  Not my favorite flavor, but I added sugarfree flavored syrup and it was fine :)

If I am reading your message right, you are pre-op???  If so, there is no way you will make it on 600 - 800 cals per day.  Go by what your surgeon suggest for you pre-op diet.  Mine was around 1000 cals with 5 shakes per day, all the broth, low cal drinks, etc. that I needed.  All surgeon diets vary so I would double check with your surgeon and not set yourself up to fail.

Good luck on your journey!

Blessings....Dee
