Went to the cardiologist today for a follow up after having a stress test done back in January and to get cleared for surgery on 2/6/12.

When the medical assistant took me to the scale she slide the weight all the way over to the 350 notch.

I looked at her and said, "oh .. I'm not that heavy anymore and you can slide that back to the 300 notch now."  I was grinning ear to ear.  I bragged as I stepped up on the scale that I had lost 56 pounds since I was here last.

Once I saw the Dr. and told him that I had gotten the surgery and was feeling just fantastic he congratulated me and was just simply thrilled.

He told me that I had done the most wonderful thing for myself.  He said I have most likely now prevented myself from getting diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney failure and any number of other problems and I had added years to my life.  He looked at the swelling in my legs and feet and said that I was developing Venous Statis from all the weight I was carrying in my stomach putting pressure on the arteries running into my legs but even that looks better and the swelling has gone down.

He said that the surgery had done so much more then give me the benefit of looking better but more importantly, my health will drastically improve.

Sometimes you question if you've done the right thing or not at first and if its really worth all that you have put yourself through.

Now I know that it was.

Way to GO!  You are doing marvelous and should be very proud of your efforts. To those that don't think you have to work at it if you have WLS, shame on them.  We've all worked hard to lose weight, many of us for most of our lives.  We're NOT afraid of the work, it's just that the results are so much faster and therefore more rewarding.
Keep on keepin' on! You are a good inspiration for us.
