Kickin myself in gear

After only loosing 1 pound in the last 5 days I've decided it's time to step things up.

I know your not supposed to compare yourself to other people but everyone needs some form of motivation and that's what this board is all about.  Seeing the success stories gets people motivated!  If I want to loose 100 lbs in 6 months I surely am not going to get there loosing 1 lb in 5 days.

After seeing someone post the other day that they were going to the Biggest Looser Ranch and they were going to be working out for 7 hours a day and burning 6,000 calories daily, it made me think how pathetic my 30 minute walk at 2 mph on the treadmill is at 5% incline.  That's 169 calories burned according to my treadmill.  Sometimes I would only do that every 2 or 3 days.  Apparently just eating 800 calories a day isn't good enough to loose the weight in a timely fashion so its time to step it up.

Yesterday I did 2 miles on the treadmill and was increasing the speed to 3 mph for as long as I could take it.  Today I'm going to shoot for 3 miles.  I've already done 1 mile and its only 11 am so I should be able to reach my goal.

I really hate exercising but I just don't see any way around it.  I do try and make the best out of it though.  Put my headphones on and jam to my music.  Getting lost in the tunes is what helps me get through it.

Lets see if I only loose 1 pound every 5 days now!  Getting psyched up .. YEAH!!!!

I love listening to audiobooks when I'm walking or even doing housework (yuck!).

You are having amazing success.  That one pound in 5 days must be maddening, but I bet you're going to let go of several pounds at once soon!

[I'm not gaining weight. I keep lowering my goal!] [I LOVE MY SLEEVE!]

Hang in there. It gets easier to do exercise as the weight comes off. For me, I was able to increase the exercise as the weight began to come off. Either it became easier or I simply became more motivated, I'm not sure.
I have to agree with you, being able to read about other peoples success stories is a great motivator for me at least. Good luck and keep moving.

You are awesome! Just don't hurt yourself, push yourself but do it carefully, an injury now would be a setback you don't need.

You are doing all the right things and you are going to get to goal, I just KNOW it! I have faith in you.

Speaking of motivation!  There she is :)

Thanks Courtney.  Yeah I haven't really been pushing myself but I know I need to start.  I could feel the burning in my calves as I was walking 3 mph.  I stopped after 3 minutes and took it back down to 2 mph.  It felt good though.  I never would have been able to even do that much 10 weeks ago.  Seeing progress is so cool.

Thanks for your kind words.

You've definitely got the positive attitude working for you!

Excercise is so important...and you  might find that the more you do it, the more you like it - especially as you lose weight.  As your body starts to tolerate it better and as you become lighter, it might just be more fun!

Social recreation can be fun and motivating - hiking clubs, ultimate frisbee, etc.  Maybe try something like that as well to switch things up for your own interest - plus, being around energetic, like-minded people is motivating!

Keep at it - you're definitely on the right track!!

Thanks Jillville!  I love frisbee I just don't have anyone to play it with other then my 2 Labs .. and they do all the work after I throw it LOL.

Something like that sounds really fun though!  Thanks for your reply :)
