Sleeved, complication but home now!
Hey all,
I had my revision on Tuesday, April 10. Apparently I had a lot of adhesions, tons of scarring and my heavily scarred band was involved with several organs. My surgeon had quite the time getting in there and making me free of the band! He had me stay two days in the hospital and I went home with a JP drain for the next couple weeks.
I passed the leak test but I couldn't keep anything down at all, it was the foam monster in my throat, no matter how slow I drank or what it was---He was going to keep me a third night but he allowed me to leave the hospital if I promised to stay in the area (I live in another state) and keep those fluids down. I had also stopped throwing up blood (which really freaked me) So we re-rented our room and now I'm doing ok and got home a couple hours ago.
Apparently what happens sometimes with poorly adjusted bands (that would have been me!) is it messes up your esophagus and stretches it out from food sitting there. It also makes it spasm (me again!) so he has me on anti spasm meds and steroids! Ugh.
Good news is that I have not had to take any pain meds at all! I'm sore and very tired but that's about it! This surgery has been much easier than any of the band surgeries or the gallbladder removal in January. Bonus: no constipation!
That's my update. I don't expect any weight loss anytime soon due to the steroid, but I'm holding out some hope!
