New Emotions tonight at dinner

We went tonight to have dinner with family.  Well, Italian use to be my favorite and being I went Easter to a Mexican food place and was fine I thought this would be too.  I found my self so incredibly sad.  I wasn't wanting the food, for I am not hungry and my head wasn't wanting the food and I know that is a no go.  I was one in a party of 7 and everyone kept apologizing and my other half tried to feed me bread without knowing it....he felt so bad.  I wanted to go to the restroom and cry but I am not sure why.  I think my only child is coming out in me.   Moral of this story....should not go to Italian any longer!  My broth was great though!!  Thanks for letting me vent!

Hugs!!  It will get better.  It's only normal to feel left out and a bit angry that you can't join in on the great food.  When you get further along and can have small portions, you will feel much better.

It's an adjustment gurl, but you'll get there. And it gets a lot easier over time when you can start to eat. Even if you have to take most of your food home you will start to feel like you belong with the group again. I admit it's still a little hard at times though. Friends and family still look at my servings like WTH, is that all you can eat? But I really do enjoy my small portions now and little by little, my friends and family are getting used to it too.

I agree with the other posts.. but also remember that you recently had surgery and your hormones will make you a little more emotional for awhile this is a grieving time for you. Its an adjustment but in time you will enjoy again. the funny thing is your mind begins to focus more on the people your with, your relationships, your milestones (like sitting in a booth comfortably), and you wont think so much about eating quantity... I use to eat something even if it did not taste great just because it was there and I paid for it... Now I feel that qualitity of the food is more important... All I am saying is It will get better... and the habits and lifestyle changes become a part of you. What we give up in abilitity to eat large quantities does not even compare to the rewards that we get .......... Peace...
