frustrated with office staff

I am feeling very frustrated with the staff at my surgeons' office.  I email them and they do not return my emails for days.  I am trying to get a date on the books and I have been waiting to hear back since Wed.  I don't get anything back not even we don't know yet which would be better than nothing.  I also waited for 6 days to get a response from the nurse and then she didn't even give me the information I was looking for but just a generic  email with a website that doesn't have the information I requested.  I am nervous that if I have issues after my surgery that I will not get the help I need!
What should I do????  I like the surgeon.

Tell the surgeon..... Cause you will be working with the staff more than the doc.

I am so sorry that you are going through this with that office. I had the same surgeon. I am revising on Tuesday the 24th from a lap band to a sleeve but not with Dr. Ikramuddin. I am sorry to tell you this but the service at that clinic is horrible. I actually switched to Park Nicollet and have been very pleased with my follow up and how attentive they are at their Bariatric Center. I am not a Debbie Downer but this is exactly the reason why I have switched clinics. I think that all of the procedures are just a tool to help you along the way but when you cannot get the care you need in the clinic then you have to make a choice to move and I did what was best for me. I really do wish you the best.  Oh by the way He is an AWESOME surgeon so I get why you are frustrated. :(  Wishing you the best.

Exactly.  Find a facility that is responsive.  Tell the surgeon that you are considering changing because of this.

Remember, these people work for you.  You are making a long term commitment to a program for not just the surgery but aftercare.  If you cant even get attention during the "sales" cycle, what are they going to be like after?

I agree with you all and that is what I was thinking also but I get the best insurance coverage at this center so that is why I chose it. Is it difficult to change when I am at the point of scheduling the surgery????

I would call your insurance company and explain the situation and ask them.

I have not had my surgery yet but from experience with the staff at other offices, I would call your insurance company, explain the situation and see if they won't give you the same coverage somewhere else. The doctor can be great but his staff also has to be because you do deal more with them than the doctor. I wish you the best of luck with insurance company, surgery and doctor.

It is a shame but most offices suck. My office sucked really bad. I had to bug and bug and bug and did I mention bug to get things done. You have to remember that they are a business and don't give a crap about you. You are patient number 34898 and the employees that work in that office still get a paycheck whether you get your surgery or not. They are in no rush to do their job. My office many times didn't return emails or voicemails. I finally had to speak to management of the facility to get things rolling along. If customer service is important to your pick another office, but customer service in a doctors office is hard to find. Switching facilities at this time will most likely delay your surgery date. If it was me I would show up in person every day until they give you a surgery date. I would email and leave voice messages and speak to supervisors and bug bug bug them until they give me what they want. But thats just me. I learned that I have to fight if I want to win at the game of life. I have a name but unfortunately to most people I am just a patient number. Sigh ...
