VSG problems?

Hi,

I know all surgery might have its problems afterwards. For those of you who are sleeved (or those who just happen to know about it), what are the complications involved with a VSG???

One of the biggest concerns is leaking. You normally have 2 leak tests in the hospital and then close monitoring by your surgeon.

Other than the normal surgery risk, I would say a leak is the most of concern. But....if you follow the rules from your surgeon about your first 3 mts diet you'll be fine.

But how will I now if I have a leak? And how far after the surgery can this happen?

It's usually apparent pretty early. But if there is a small leak, the swelling of your stomach can cover it up and it won't appear for a few weeks. Usually by 6 weeks you know you're safe. Talk to your surgeon about how s/he checks for leaks.

But now, aside from the leaks, there are no other complications or downsides to it?

Everybody feel full? Everybody lose weight? Your stomach is intact and fonctionning as well as before?
