Exercise Question and I Hit the Dreaded Stall

Hey folks! I was wondering your opinion. I had my sleeve 3 weeks ago today. I have not been cleared for all exercise yet. That appointment is coming on the 24th. My plan was to up my exercise and really get off my butt this third week because of the typical stall associated with it so I stepped up my walking.

So, I joined the Y and started walking yesterday. I walk for about an hour. Not the speed I used to walk at, but just trying to get in 10,000 steps/day.

I got up and did the same thing today. However, I am so exhausted today. I felt like I was a zombie on that treadmill. I just kept doing it. Mind over body, right? Well, this afternoon, I broke down and had to take a nap.

My question is: do you think my body will adjust in a week to the new exertion or should I walk for a shorter period of time and work my way up?

Also, I did hit the stall. So far just 2 days. Stucks at 24 lbs lost overall. Still happy about my weight loss and hope to hit my goal of 30lbs by June 1st.

Thanks for your input!

3 week stall is normal. Just stick to your program and trust that you will get beyond this. We all have.

Your body is telling you "slow down."  I thinks it's wonderful you're already wanting to exercise but IMO, wait another week or so.  You just had major surgery!  Always listen to your body.  I didn't start working out until three months post-op (NOT that I suggest doing so).  Now at 17 months post-op, I'm at the gym 7 hours/wk.  You'll get there!

Good luck,

Jennifer

Thanks, I am prior military so my brain is just wired to suck it up and push through. Trying to get over that and listen more to my body.

Here's my take, don't overdue it in the 3rd week.  I did and it set me back from really starting to exercise until week 5.  I was still exhausted through week 3 and taking naps still.  Week 4 was the turning point for me.  Everyone is different.  I never had a 3 week stall but week 4 I only lost 1 lb.  As long as you are eating right and doing what you can please don't worry about a stall, you can't really stop them!

You shusha. You ran a 5K at 8 weeks.
Just kidding. Thanks. I'll probably just focus on walking 30 minutes until I get my clearance at the end of next week. Not too worried about the stall, I just wanted to combat it by a little more body shock lol.

I'm prior Army so yes I think we tend to suck it up because that's what you're supposed to do.  But in this case, don't.  Your body is trying to tell you something.  I ended up pulling an internal incision and I was in a fair bit of pain for over a week.  This is a case of do as I say not as I do.

Have you been losing weight daily up to now?  I tend to go a few days losing and then not, then again, then not.  Right now I think I've been at the same weight for four days? And then more will come off.

[I'm not gaining weight. I keep lowering my goal!] [I LOVE MY SLEEVE!]

Yes. I've been obsessive about weighing myself. I need to chill out. I remember doing HCG last year and the scale would move down everyday so I was assuming this would be the same way. Let me type it again. I need to chill out. LOL. :)
