1 Month Out! I will post pics later. Making hubby take some!
So today was my 1 month check up. I am down 27lbs from pre op diet. Had to take barium and do a leak test in office. Wasn't expecting that. I don't recommend barium on an empty stomach. My stomach won't stop gurgling now.
Oh he finally gave me a goal weight. He wants me at 135. Started at 233, I"m at 206 now. So pretty close to 1/3 of the way there. He thinks I'll hit goal at 1 year. I want to prove him wrong.
He said my pyloric valve looks great lol.
I am cleared to do all exercise except swimming. I have a stitch in my belly button that hasn't fully dissolved. Uh ok. Weird. I can like see the stitch. He said if it doesn't dissolve by Monday, cut it and it will dissolve. Hubby's going to have fun with that one! LOL.
Everything is good. Just trucking along.
I need to get on a schedule. That would help with my sleep and protein intake. I finish my first class of my Master's this week so I think resetting to the next class will let me refocus.
Hungry only in the mornings and if I just don't eat for some crazy long period of time. Not hunger like before.
I don't think about food all the time anymore. That is such a huge relief.
Overall just feeling more in control. Going to counseling 2x/month and bariatric support 2x/month.
No one has really noticed the weight loss except people who know. Kinda weird. Before when I'd lose weight, it was really noticable. I don't know.
I will post a few pics tonight and update all my measurements. Maybe even a ticker since I have a goal now hehe.
For the newbies: it's worth it. No regrets here. I think it's silly to say you won't have some down moments but good lord, you are completely rewiring your brain and stomach. You're rediscovering you. There's only been 2 times where I just kinda cried. There's a lot going on and it's overwhelming.
It's ok to feel again. I give you permision :)

Oh I hope I don't have to do another leak test. is this standard for your doc or did he have another reason?
It sounds like you're doing great. I have looked at pics of myself from the night before my surgery and four weeks before, and I can see why you have to already know to notice. I've seen that, myself. There are a couple of reasons. One, I'm now at a size that I stayed at for a few years (1X) and so I probably look very much like I did then, and there's not this huge difference. My hairdresser didn't even notice and she's paying a lot of attention to my face.
But I think the other reason is that it's a lot more noticeable when I'm naked and I can see dents and rolls where I used to be solid and round. And in a tight t-shirt (in the pics) there is a difference, but the fat is still there...
Losing so far has made a big difference in how I feel and in my clothes. But it's just not quite enough for people to do a doubletake and notice. But that day will come!
