Hi, it's been 7days since my surgery.  I'm doing great go back for my follow up Thursday. Is having the runs normal in the beginning and is this going to be a ongoing issue?

Hi... I haven't been sleeved yet but I've been reading posts daily for a couple months and lots of people will tell you liquids in liquids out... From what I hear it gets better but can also go to the extreme opposite too... I am sorry that I can't really help since I haven't had surgery yet... Good luck on your journey!!

You'll go from one extreme to the other until your system settles down.  You'll be looking back fondly on this days when you wind up constipated!

"Enjoy" it while you can.  It definitely turned around for me!  I take colace daily though (fyi for the future) but check with your doc.

Also a side note to the flip side (sorry but not sure how else to say it)  be sure you are peeing well.  I had kidney stones that ended up requiring surgery (still glad i got my sleeve) and the urologist explained that while drinking as much water as possible is important (at least 64 ounces but preferably much more) it is also critical that you produce OVER 2 liters of urine each day. TMI alert!!!!! So I measured and a good healthy pee (for me) is between 15-18 ounces.  2 liters is about 68 ounces.  SO I shoot for 5-6 good pees a day.  I TOLD YOU TMI ALERT!  Anyway - hope that helps prevent even one kidney stone.  Trust me you don't want one.

YIKES...hadn't thought about kidney stones...but we are taking in quite a bit of protein and I am used to drinking a good 68 fl oz before surgery.  My goal is 40-60; but I'm definately going to shoot for the 60!!!  Thanks for the warning!

Holy cow.  I'm drinking lots and lots but am not peeing much.  I don't know how to pee more!

Very normal in the beginning, then like others said constipation sets in.  I take a dose of Miralax everyday just to keep things moving.

It's likely normal but I was on a liquid pre op diet for two weeks and still had regular bowel movements. AFTER surgery I have had extensive issues, which appears to be related to bile salts. No clue at this time why but hang in there and definitely speak with your doctor

I'll be flying home 3 days after my surgery - should I be worried about this?
