Don't worry. . It gets better FAST... walk walk walk.  If you are nauseous make sure you ask for meds, and maybe scale back on the pain meds, the pain you are feeling is gas, the more you walk the faster it goes away.. You'll find others walking the halls burping away.

That you would benefit by WLS and that you made an educated decision.

Now you need to get up and walk, walk, walk, and ready yourself to be able to go home and continue the rest of the journey.

Go!  You heard me!  Get off the 'puter and take a walk.

Angel, I hear you loud and clear but it will get better! I told my husband to just let me die the pain was so horrible. Let the nurse's help you they are better then the Doctor lol . Sleep all you can and keep sipping ask for popsicles or if that's to cold let everything get room temp. Your body needs to adjust and heal. Vent anytime most of us understand. Speedy recovery

Walk and Sip.  SIP SIP SIP.   I was there 6 weeks ago.  I was crying telling my fiancee I regretted it and that I couldn't deal with the pain.  Each day was a little better.   It's going to pass!!!

It really does get better, I promise! The walking will help tremendously, as does sleeping. Make sure you are sleeping every chance you get, because our bodies love to heal while we are asleep.

I am sure you will be feeling better soon. Keep your mind focused on the reasons you had this surgery in the first place. While women are in labor they think the same thing, but after they heal most women try again for another child reguardless of how bad it hurt! The reason is because ITS WORTH IT!!!!!! Stay strong and I hope you have a speedy recovery. You WILL get through this difficult time!

I was also in a lot of pain for the first few days following surgery.  People would tell me to walk and it just burned.  I had my first leak test and vomited after I swallowed the liquid and  I felt like I personally had a new definition of pain.  I'd do that loop around the nurse's station and couldn't wait to climb back into the bed (even though that hurt and I needed help!) I asked them to bump up my pain meds and they did, and I hit that pain call button whenever I could.

Had my surgery on Tuesday and on Friday they removed my last drain and I went home.  I was told that the burning would probably end once that drain came out and it did!  The first day home was rough as I had to drink the nasty pain meds (previously got it through IV) and had to figure out how to gingerly lay down (bed or couch) and how to get back up without feeling like I was ripping something.

HOWEVER....By Sunday (5 days after surgery) I walked 1/2 mile and was off all pain meds.  By Friday (10 days after surgery), I went back to the office for a 1/2 day (I have a desk job). By Monday (13 days after surgery), I was back to work full time.

I remember some people saying that following surgery they were walking around, taking minimal pain meds while in the hospital, etc. and I was definitely not one of them.  To me, the worst point of this was the 48 hours following surgery and then day by day...I was better.

You will get better, you do need to follow the recommendations of sipping and walking and you will feel pain, but....when you look back on this experience several months from now, you will likely be like most of us on this board saying that they'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

I'm 7wks out today - I totally remember how you're feeling. Just like everyone says, it gets better QUICK! Actually MUCH quicker than Inever anticipate.

I agree, walk! Another thing that really helped is my momand my amazing boyfriend gave me nice long shoulder/back rubs (while I sat up in my hospital bed). It felt good and really worked out a lot of that painful surgical gas.

Take plenty of pain meds - the "fog" and rest/relief they provide that first week really help carry you through those first few days.

Have faith, you're going to improve so quickly.
