As always, thank you for your input and thoughts on this.

The speaker was not suggesting that we eat a whole plate of pasta and I may have mistakenly given that notion.  She talked quite a lot about eating protein first, veggies then some carbs ...  The plan that we know works.

She never told us to eat a whole plate of pasta but told a story about how her grandmother did (who was not a WLS patient) and how it didn't affect her sugar very much at all.  She was preaching what we all heard in school growing up .. eat a balanced nutritional diet from all the food groups including some grains, vegetable, fruits, etc. when we are further out and not get caught up in eating the same ole thing day after day.  I'm sorry if i gave that impression for her.

I think many of us, including me for sure, sometimes don't know what to eat .. or we are too lazy to fix anything fancy and run out of idea's and just settle for the same old food day in and day out.  I've never eaten so much chicken salad and tuna in my life!  It was nice to hear about some other options that are out there for people like me who get tired of eating the same thing all the time.

Hey Kevin! Ahh I wish I could go to the support meetings! Dreamfields isnt new to me, we have been buying it for years. They sell it at our stores, I can find it at Giant and Shoppers. I love pasta, I have had a little bit ( and I mean a little bit ) since surgery, only when my protein goals are met and such. I dont plan on not eating it, but Nancy has told me before that a carb is a carb, and so technically Dreamfields has the same amount of carbs as other pastas, but I still plan on eating Dreamfields. It def tastes just like any other type of pasta, no funky taste.

We've been buying it for several years at Publix.

My very diabetic but not-obese husband eats this, and it does not elevate his sugars the the way that regular pasta will.  I tried it recently, just a taste, and the taste and texture were normal 'pasta'.

I'm pasta-avoidant mostly because marinara sauce is my undoing post-vsg.  Go figure.  I would consider using it for like a spagetti with brown butter and Mizithra Cheese (a la Spagetti Factory).

You know, after years of yo-yo dieting, I'm done with eating fake diet food.  I've never found a fake diet food that was as good as the real thing.  No, substituting applesauce for the oil and eggs in a brownie mix isn't the same.  Fat free cheese does not melt or taste good.  SF cheesecake pudding is not at all like cheesecake.  High protein pasta does not have the same texture or taste as regular pasta.

I spent years buying into all that crap and pretending to like whatever "healthy" recipe or product matched the ridiculous plan I was trying to stick with at the time.

I'm over it.

I eat healthy at least 90% of the time.  When I choose to eat a treat or unhealthy option, I choose the real thing and savor the hell out of it.

If I really want pasta (which I rarely do), I'll make or order some pasta, eat it and enjoy it in a small sleeve-reasonable amount, and then move on.

Normal thin people don't eat a bunch of fake diet crap.  Normal thin people eat unhealthy foods and treats in small amounts on occasion but stick to a healthy diet 80-90% of the time and work out on a regular basis.

I believe that these "fake diet foods" are just one more way that corporate America is taking advantage of fat people's insecurities and desire to be thin without making significant lifestyle changes.  Fake pasta isn't the key to being thin.  Eating real pasta once in a rare while is a better option for me.

Hi Kevin.  I just wanted to add that apparently if overcooked or reheated the "absorb only 5g/carbs" thing goes out the window.  I can't for the life of me remember where I read that.  Maybe the fine print on the website?  Anyway, I've had it a couple of times and it's just like regular spaghetti IMO.

If I am going to have pasta it is def dreamfield pasta.I have pasta less than once a month. It does not taste any differently to me than regular pasta and def better than whole wheat pasta.  IMO the key is sticking to a plan that works and having balance.

I avoid GMO foods so this is off my list, I am afraid of Frankenfoods, especailly when it comes to feeding them to my kids.
